It was the first time that Apple released a similar video presenting the features already presented in the keynote, which it supplemented with new comments. But privacy is a big issue for the company, as many cite it as the main benefit in using Apple products compared to its competitors. The video presents the upcoming privacy features in detail. "We believe privacy is a basic human right," Cook says in the newly filmed introduction. "We work tirelessly to integrate it into everything we do, and it's central to how we design all our products and services," he adds. The video is over 6 minutes long and has approximately 2 minutes of new content.

Interestingly, the video is aimed mainly at British users, as it was published on the UK YouTube channel. In 2018, the European Union enacted the strictest privacy law in the world, the so-called General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Even Apple had to strengthen its guarantees in order to meet the extremely high standards set by law. However, it now states that it provides the same guarantees to all its users, regardless of whether they are from Europe or other continents. A big step was already iOS 14.5 and the introduction of the app tracking transparency function. But with iOS 15, iPadOS 15 and macOS 12 Monterey, additional functions will come that will take care of user security even more.

Mail Privacy Protection

This feature can block invisible pixels that are used to collect data about the recipient in incoming e-mails. By blocking them, Apple will make it impossible for the sender to find out whether you have opened the email, and your IP address will not be detectable either, so the sender will not know any of your online activity.

Intelligent Tracking Prevention

The function already prevents trackers from tracking your movements within Safari. However, it will now block access to the IP address. That way, no one will be able to use it as a unique identifier to monitor your behavior on the network.

App Privacy Report

In Settings and the Privacy tab, you will now find the App Privacy Report tab, in which you will be able to view how individual applications handle sensitive data about you and your behavior. So you'll see if he's using the microphone, camera, location services, etc. and how often.

iCloud +

The feature combines classic cloud storage with privacy-enhancing features. E.g. so you can surf the web within Safari as encrypted as possible, where your requests are sent two ways. The first assigns an Anonymous IP address depending on the location, the second takes care of decrypting the destination address and redirecting. Thanks to this, no one will find out who visited the given page. However, iCloud+ will now be able to deal with multiple cameras within the household, when in addition the size of the recorded data will not count towards the paid iCloud tariff.

Hide My Email

This is an extension of the Sign in with Apple functionality, when you will not have to share your email in the Safari browser.  “These new privacy features are the latest in a long line of innovations that our teams have developed to improve transparency and give users control over their data. These are features that will help users gain peace of mind by enhancing their control and freedom to use technology without worrying about who is looking over their shoulder. At Apple, we are committed to giving users a choice in how their data is used and to embed privacy and security in everything we do.” concludes the Cook video.
