Daylight Time

If you have an Apple Watch in addition to your iPhone, you can monitor the time spent in daylight and try to increase it. If you want to activate this feature, launch Health on your iPhone, tap on at the bottom right Browsing and select Mental state. Then just tap on the item Daylight Time and activate everything that is needed.

Distance from the display

Another vision-related health feature you can take advantage of in iOS 17 is the display distance feature. This feature is available on all iPhones with Face ID and can be found in Settings -> Screen Time. When you turn it on, iPhone will constantly measure the distance between your eyes and the screen—without taking pictures or sending information outside the device—and then alert you whenever your eyes are too close to your iPhone's display.

Siri and health data

In this case, it is not so much a feature as such, but rather an improvement that is available in newer versions of the iOS operating system. Apple has given Siri more health-related features in the iOS 17.2 software update. If you're using iOS 17.2 or later, you can privately and securely ask Siri for information recorded in the Health app. This means you can finally ask Siri how many steps you've taken for the day or last week, or to tell you your heart rate history, sleep activity, blood glucose and more.

Mental health

In the Viewing tab of the Health app on iPhones with iOS 17 and later, the Mindfulness category has been replaced with a Mental State section. If you've ever used the Mindfulness Minutes tool, you'll find it in this category and see all the same data and information as before. There are also new tools available in the new Mental State category, which we'll discuss below.

Current mood

Tracking your emotions throughout the day or even your mood for an entire week is a great way to see what affects your overall mental well-being. This is what the State of Mind record is for - you can record and manage all the details in the Health app by tapping on Browse -> Mental State -> State of Mind. Here you can also manually add records, view graphs, or perhaps browse through old records.
