Adam Kos Even though Apple already presented the iPhone 14 Plus as part of its Far Out event on September 7, it will not go on sale in stores and online until a month later, on Friday, October 7. Even if the entire iPhone 14 series is quite controversial - for better or for worse, there are at least 5 reasons to buy the iPhone 14 Plus and not reach for another version and generation of iPhone.
Size
Apple cut the iPhone mini with its 5,4" diagonal display size and brought a model from the other side of the spectrum. The iPhone 14 Plus, as its name already suggests, finally brings a large display to the basic range of iPhones for all those who do not need the functions of the Pro models, for which they also do not need to spend the extra money. So is the basic iPhone equipment enough for you? Now you can have it with a large 6,7" display (Dynamic Island, adaptive refresh rate and Always On are missing, however).

The longest battery life of any iPhone
Apple says that the iPhone 14 Plus has a big plus for the battery. It is referred to as the iPhone with the longest battery life of any iPhone. According to GSMArenas its battery capacity is 4323 mAh, and even if it is the same as the iPhone 14 Pro Max, since the latter is more demanding on its consumption, the Plus model should surpass it. It can thus handle up to 100 hours of music playback on a single charge, which really no other iPhone can do.

Even though the iPhone 14 Plus loses by not having a telephoto lens or a 48 MPx main camera, just like the 14 Pro models, it can record in movie mode in 4K quality. This clearly means that it is a better solution for taking clips than, for example, the iPhone 13 Pro (Max), because the 4K cannot and will not be able to do this - with last generation, the use of these shots is limited to 1080p quality. And then there's the action mode, which perfectly stabilizes the recorded footage, even handheld. This is also a clear advantage to reach for the iPhone 14 rather than any older generation.
Selfie camera
If there are differences between the iPhone 14 and 14 Pro in the area of the rear camera assembly, then in the case of the front camera, the basic series has the same options, even if it does not have Dynamic Island (but of course it cannot ProRAW and ProRes). In the entire iPhone portfolio, these are the best Apple phones for taking self-portraits, i.e. selfies. If you are a fan of them, this is a clear choice for you. While the same 12MPx resolution remains, the aperture is now ƒ/1,9 instead of ƒ/2,2 and autofocus has finally been added. The results are thus sharper and more colorful, with Apple claiming up to a two-fold improvement in low-light conditions.

Car accident detection
To be honest, it was quite difficult to choose the fifth reason. The durability is the same as the previous generation, in a certain respect the same can be said for the performance, and there is not much more here. The iPhone 14 doesn't really have that many new features, and that's why it's appropriate to add one more, namely car accident detection. If you don't own an Apple Watch or smart cars that can call for help themselves, this is the feature that can save your life.

One reason not to buy the iPhone 14 Plus - Price
Unfortunately, the situation is as it is, and Apple has priced its new products in the European market somewhat inappropriately - at least for customers. The iPhone 14 Plus in its basic 12GB memory variant will cost you CZK 29, which is really a lot, because you had an iPhone 990 Pro for that price last year. It was clear that the Plus version would be more expensive, because it is logically also bigger, but if it was on the border of the basic iPhone, i.e. at 13 CZK, it would be quite acceptable. Unfortunately, we can't do anything about it.
