The longer we use our Apple devices, the more they become filled with all kinds of photos and videos. And the more content of this type is on our devices, the harder it can sometimes be to find what we're looking for. In today's article, we will introduce you to four ways to search for photos on Apple devices.

Search by person

Operating systems from Apple have for some time now offered the possibility of searching for photos based on the faces of the people in them. While using the Camera and native Photos, the system will ask you from time to time to tag the people in the photos by name. Just by this name - just enter it in the search field in the native Photos. If you want to tag a person in a photo, tap on that photo and tap on the i in the circle at the bottom of the screen. In the lower left corner of the photo, click on the portrait icon in a circle with a question mark and in the menu that appears, select Mark with name.

Search by multiple parameters

In the native Photos in iOS, iPadOS or macOS, you can also search for images based on several parameters at once - for example, shots of your dog in the winter of 2020 in Prague. Tap or click (depending on the operating system you are currently working with) the search icon. Start typing the first parameter (for example, name) in the search field. Select the relevant parameter from the menu that appears below the search bar, and you can start entering another search parameter.

Search by labels, text or title

You can also search by captions, captions and text in Photos within Apple's operating systems. The search procedure is practically the same as in the cases mentioned above. For example, if you're looking for an image that you've tagged "pizzeria," just type that word into the search box. If you want to assign your own caption to the selected photo, tap on i in the circle at the bottom of the display. In the tab that appears, click Add Caption at the top and you can enter the text you want.

Searching for "adjacent" images

Do you remember taking a picture of a waterfall while on vacation, would like to see all the pictures from that day, but can't remember roughly when you took the picture? Just enter a keyword in the search field - in our case "waterfall". Once you find the photo you want, tap it, then tap the i in the circle at the bottom of the screen, then choose Show in All Photos album.
