Not all of us use the native Shortcuts application on the iPhone, i.e. the iPad, mainly because many users do not like the default ones and do not want to create them themselves. However, since the release of the iOS 13 operating system, Automation Shortcuts have been added, which are really easy to create. In today's article, we will show you a few of them that you can be inspired by.
Automatic playback after connecting a Bluetooth device
If you're an Apple Music user, buy songs from iTunes, or download songs from another source into the native Music app, you're probably using some Bluetooth headphones. Using automation, you can activate a simple trick, thanks to which you do not have to touch your phone or watch or use Siri after connecting the headphones - because the music will automatically start playing for you. First in Abbreviations create automation, from the first screen select Bluetooth then tick those devices for which you want to set automatic playback, and select from the displayed actions Play music. Here you can choose either any music or playlists, songs or albums, it is also possible to determine whether it is activated random play. At the end of the settings, don't forget to choose the action to be performed automatically without your intervention.
Activating Do Not Disturb mode after arriving at a certain location
Surely you have ever found yourself in a situation where, for example, you were at work or in a meeting and suddenly your phone started ringing. These situations are certainly not pleasant for anyone, but thanks to shortcuts or automation, you can eliminate them. After creating the automation, select Arrival, then select necessary place and then choose whether the automation will start at any time or in the given time range. Select from actions Set Do Not Disturb mode, and in this action select the option until my departure, time or the end of the event. Of course, don't forget to set the action to be performed automatically.
Bedtime mode
Many of us have certain habits before we go to bed, such as playing music or other multimedia. If you're an Apple Music user, you'll certainly be pleased with the automation that ensures you start your favorite playlist before bed. After creating the automation, click on Sleep and select from the options The quiet of the night begins, the convenience store begins whether Awakening. Then choose from the actions Set Do Not Disturb mode a choose the time for which you want the function to be activated. Search further from the available events play music, and again choose which one you want to run. If you're more of a podcast lover, choose action instead of music Play the podcast. However, if you use competing services such as Spotify, click on in the actions Open the app, a choose your favorite however, you'll need to turn on the music manually after opening that app. As another action that might be useful to you, select the one with the name adjust the volume, where you can choose how loud you want the music to be played. Finally, select Start the minute a set how long the music will play. However, to prevent the timer from ringing when you're done, you need to select an option for the minute hand sound in the Clock app Stop playback. With this automation, you can also choose whether you want the system to perform it without asking or only after your consent, because if you're out somewhere, for example, you probably won't be happy when your music suddenly starts playing.
Sending a message after leaving work
If you are one of the users who regularly go home immediately from work, it is certainly useful to inform your partner about your early arrival. However, this function also comes in handy when you know that your other half is also finishing work late, and you inform them about the end of your working hours in order to arrange a nice dinner in the city, for example. There is a fairly simple way for this option as well, and that is to click on after creating the automation Departure, set your work location and from actions tap on Send a message. Select the recipient a write the text of the message. Also, don't forget to tick the box for automation to be done without your consent.
I set the automation to send an SMS when I arrive at a certain place at a certain time. I would expect the report to be sent automatically, but I only see a shortcut that I have to run when the conditions are met. Does anyone know, please, if it is possible to set the message to be sent by itself without me?
I don't think it works. It says so in the Apple manual. I tried different paths but never got it set up.
Thank you.
Even if it were possible to set an automatic trigger to start them in ALL shortcuts. Oh, and who wants to use a shortcut for playing music after connecting BT in the car and has the car driving mode set, it won't work :-D
most of those automations are useless because it's not automation but automatically running a shortcut that has to be confirmed by the user.. so completely useless.. What's the use of automatically sending a message when I'm driving home from work when it just pops up on my phone shortcut, but I can't confirm it because I'm driving..
The shortcut can be performed automatically independently of the user. Just uncheck the "Ask before starting" answer to turn it off and, for example, turn on Bluetooth or send an SMS at a certain time. It can also work to automatically turn on songs after connecting to a certain Bluetooth, even with a random selection.
Does it just want to search?
This option is not available in all cases.
Does anyone have a shortcut - send a predefined SMS to the last phone number (whether received or called, simply the last one in the call log). Alternatively, a tip who would help set it up? Thanks in advance!
