Eternal rivals - iOS and Android, as well as their manufacturers Apple and Google. However, it would not be possible without competition, whether it is copied on one side or the other. Unfortunately, we don't have a third player here, because Samsung backed out with its Bada back in 2012, Microsoft followed with its mobile Windows in 2017. And since WWDC is upon us, here are 4 things that iOS 16 could borrow from Android 13.

Internally referred to as Tiramisu, Android 13 was announced on February 10, 2022, and the first Developer Preview for Google Pixel phones was immediately released. That was roughly four months after the stable version of Android 12. Developer Preview 2 followed later in March. Beta 1 was released on April 26, and beta 2 was released after Google I/O on May 11, 2022. Two more betas are scheduled for release in June and July. The sharp release of Android 13 could happen in late September or early October, depending on when Google releases its Pixel 7 and 7 Pro phones. There is not much news yet and it can be seen that Google is focusing a lot on optimization. However, we would also like to see this from Apple and its iOS 16.

Copy content folder

When you take a screenshot, you'll see a preview of it in the bottom left corner. When you click on it, you can edit, annotate and share it. Now imagine doing the same thing with text or just about anything you copy. Such content will be displayed here and you can modify and further edit it before using it again. This is one of the most interesting features of Android 13, and surely such a novelty would help work productivity in iPhones and of course iPads.

Material You design

The so-called Material You design already came with Android 12, but Android 13 takes it to the next level of use. Its function is to recolor your system environment according to the colors of the used wallpaper. Android 13 then allows you to change the color of the environment independently of the wallpaper. But the iOS menus are still the same boring for many years - either light or dark. So it would give the user more freedom in how they want the environment to look. In addition, anyone who has seen Material You on a phone knows that it looks really good.

Smart home control from the lock screen

The iPhone lock screen gives you access to the flashlight, camera, notifications, Control Center. But it is fundamentally underutilized. However, Android 13 will be able to determine the light intensity of a smart bulb directly from the lock screen, or set the temperature on the thermostat. After all, Apple should work on the entire Home application, which needs to be improved like salt.

Android 13 3

Playback progress

It's just a minor graphical innovation, but it could be really useful, especially in the podcast era. Instead of displaying a normal line with already played content, it is shown to you in the form of a squiggle. In the case of long tracks, you can get a better idea of what part of it you are in, how much you have left to finish or how much content you have already played, even with a quick glance.
