A few weeks ago, Apple held its first conference of the year, where we got to see the presentation of several different interesting products - everyone really got something for themselves. However, the date of the next conference, WWDC22, is currently known. This conference will take place specifically from June 6 and we would also expect a lot of news at it. It is clear that we will traditionally see the introduction of new major versions of operating systems, but apart from that, Apple will quite possibly have a few surprises in store for us. So, as far as hardware news is concerned, we should theoretically expect four new Macs at WWDC22. Let's take a look at what Macs these are and what we can expect from them.

Mac Pro

Let's start with the Apple computer, for which one could say that its arrival is already practically clear - although we had doubts until recently. This is the Mac Pro, the current version of which is the last Apple computer in the lineup without an Apple Silicon chip. And why are we so sure that we will see the Mac Pro at WWDC22? There are two reasons. First, when Apple presented Apple Silicon chips at WWDC20 two years ago, it stated that it wanted to transfer all of its computers to this platform. So if he didn't release a Mac Pro with Apple Silicon now, he wouldn't meet the expectations of Apple fans. The second reason is the fact that at the previous conference in March, one of the representatives of Apple mentioned that the presented Mac Studio is not a replacement for the Mac Pro, and that we will see this top machine soon. And "soon" could mean at WWDC22. For now, it is not entirely clear what the new Mac Pro should come with. However, a smaller body is expected with huge performance comparable to two M1 Ultra chips, i.e. up to 40 CPU cores, 128 GPU cores and 256 GB of unified memory. We will have to wait for more information.

MacBook Air

The second most anticipated Apple computer we should expect to see at WWDC22 is the MacBook Air. It was assumed that we would see this machine already at this year's first conference, but in the end it did not happen. The new MacBook Air should be new in almost every aspect - it should be completely redesigned, similar to what happened with the MacBook Pro. And what should we expect from the new Air? We can mention, for example, the abandonment of the tapering body, which will now have the same thickness across the entire width. At the same time, the screen should be enlarged, from 13.3″ to 13.6″, with a cutout in the middle at the top. It goes without saying that the MagSafe power connector will return, theoretically together with other connectors. There should also be a color revolution, when the MacBook Air will be available in several colors, similar to the 24″ iMac, and a white keyboard should be deployed. In terms of performance, the M2 chip should finally be deployed, with which Apple will start the second generation of M-series chips.

13″ MacBook Pro

When Apple introduced the new 14″ and 16″ MacBook Pro (2021) a few months ago, many of us thought that the 13″ MacBook Pro was the death knell. However, it looks like the exact opposite is the case, as this machine is still available, and even most likely will continue to be, as an updated version of it is quite possibly about to be introduced. Specifically, the new 13″ MacBook Pro should primarily offer the M2 chip, which should boast 8 CPU cores, just like the M1, but the increase in performance should occur in the GPU, where an increase from 8 cores to 10 cores is expected. It is also expected that, following the example of the new MacBook Pros, we will see the removal of the Touch Bar, which will be replaced by classic physical keys. It is quite possible that there will also be some minimal design changes, but as for the display, it should remain the same. Otherwise, it should be practically the same device as we have known it for several long years.

Mac mini

The last update of the current Mac mini came in November 2020, when this apple machine was equipped with an Apple Silicon chip, specifically the M1. In the same way, the 13″ MacBook Pro and MacBook Air were also equipped with this chip at the same time – these three devices started the era of Apple Silicon chips, thanks to which the Californian giant began to get rid of unsatisfactory Intel processors. Currently, the Mac mini has been without an update for about a year and a half, which means that it definitely deserves some revival. This should have happened already at this year's first conference, but in the end we only got to see the release of Mac Studio. Specifically, the updated Mac mini could offer, for example, an M1 Pro chip alongside the classic M1 chip. It would make sense for that reason, since the mentioned Mac Studio is available in a configuration with an M1 Max or M1 Ultra chip, so the M1 Pro chip is simply not used in the Mac family. So if you are planning to buy a Mac mini, definitely wait a little longer.
