In addition to the flash during photography, however, this diode on the back of the device can also be used as a classic flashlight. This is useful, for example, if you want to go secretly to the refrigerator at night, or if you want to shine a light on something for any reason. There are several ways you can activate the flashlight on your iPhone. In this article, we will look together at three ways to activate the flashlight on the iPhone.

Control Center

You can easily activate the flashlight on your iOS device via the control center. But it is necessary that you add an element for (de)activating the flashlight here. If you want to find out how to do this, or if you would like to change its location, then proceed as follows:

  • First you need to move to Settings.
  • Here below, click on the box with the name Control Center.
  • Now scroll down again to the category Additional controls.
  • In this section, find the box Flashlight and click on it the green + icon.
  • This adds the flashlight to the control center.
  • To reposition an element, grab it three lines in the right part and move it up or down.

If you set this function, a quick action can be performed after double-clicking - for example, creating a screenshot, changing the volume, or performing a shortcut. It is with the help of shortcuts that you can set the flashlight to activate with a double tap, and then to turn it off with a triple tap. So proceed as follows:

  • First, move to the app Abbreviations and click on in the bottom menu My shortcuts.
  • Once you've done that, tap on at the top right the + icon.
  • On the next screen, click on the option Add action.
  • In the search, you will find an event with the name Set flashlight and click on it.
  • After adding an action, tap on in the block Set up and then select from the menu Switch.
  • Then tap on Další at the top right and take a shortcut name the for example as Lamp.
  • Finally, tap on the top right All done.
  • Now move to the native app on your iOS device Settings.
  • Once you do, go down a bit below and click the option Disclosure.
  • Here, in the category Mobility and motor skills, click on the box Touch.
  • Then get off on the next screen all the way down and move to the section Tap on the back.
  • Then choose whether you want to set the action to double tap, or on Triple tap.
  • Finally get off here all the way down and select from the list created shortcut in our case here with the name Lamp.
  • Note that the Back Tap feature is only available for iPhone 8 and later.
