As some of you may know, Steve Jobs posted a few days ago (April 29) on Apple's website open letter, where he summarized his opinions about Adobe and Flash. The letter was too long, but at the end of it, specifically in the penultimate paragraph, he wrote an interesting sentence.

And the 200,000 apps on Apple's App Store prove that Flash isn't necessary for tens of thousands of developers to create graphically rich applications, including games.

In translation:

Moreover, 200.000 applications in Apple's App Store confirm that Flash is not even needed for tens of thousands of developers to make graphically rich applications, including games.

This made it clear to the world that the AppStore had broken the 200 app mark. For interest: in July 000 there were 2009 applications, at the end of September 65 already 000 applications, at the beginning of November 2009 a full 85 applications and in the middle of February of this year there were 000 applications.

So it can be seen that the number of applications is increasing really fast and their pace is keeping up or increasing. Of course, this also applies to the number of downloaded applications, which increases with each additional iPhone OS device and, of course, with new applications.
