There is no more popular and probably no better manager of passwords and other sensitive data than 1Password. It has now received a major update after many years, or to be more precise, its version for Mac. 1Password 4 brings a new interface or 1Password mini…

The first thing that strikes you when you launch the new 1Password is the interface. The application has been rewritten and now offers all passwords in a brand new jacket, whose motto is mainly simplicity. The new design is certainly not dissimilar to the previous one, however, there is a sense of novelty.

1Password 4 still works on the same principle as before. This means that in it you keep records of your passwords, credit cards, bank accounts, licenses, etc. The latest version now offers the possibility of creating additional accounts that can be easily shared, for example, with other members of the household or in a work team. By using multiple accounts, you can separate your personal and work data and easily share sensitive information within the family.

An interesting new feature is 1Password mini, which sits as a "miniature" application in the top menu bar. You then have immediate access to all your data directly from this bar, without having to open the application itself. You can also call up 1Password mini using a keyboard shortcut if the tray icon isn't to your liking.

In addition to Mac, 1Password also exists for iOS (and other platforms), and if you haven't been comfortable with Dropbox synchronization yet, you can use iCloud. Wi-Fi sync is also returning, so if you don't want your data in the cloud at all, you can use a wireless connection between the two devices.

Of course, it is still possible to use 1Password as an extension in browsers, namely in Safari, Firefox, Chrome and Opera. At the same time, 1Password 4 cares about your security, so it can show those passwords that are weak and easier to crack, as well as show accounts with the same passwords.

However, such a big update is not free. Respectively, those who purchased the previous version in 1 or those who purchased from the Mac App Store will receive 4Password 2013 for free. New customers can get 1Password 4 for $39,99 (currently a 20% discount, then the price will increase to $49,99). Users who already use 1Password 3 and bought it before this year will get the new version for $24,99. If you're not sure whether to invest in 1Password, you can download a 30-day trial version.
