iOS 15 has been available in the public version for a few days now. However, at our magazine, we have been testing this system, along with other new systems, since the release of the very first beta version, which came out about three months ago. Specifically, iOS 15 is available to all users who own an iPhone 6s and later, meaning it's possible to use the system on a six-year-old device — something Android phone owners can only dream about. If you have just installed iOS 15 and want to know about some hidden features, then just read this article.

Activation of the Live Text function

One of the most anticipated features is undoubtedly Live Text. Using this function, you can convert the text found on an image into a form in which it is possible to work with it easily. Live Text was available in beta versions for a long time without problems, but with the public release of iOS 15, it simply disappeared for many users in the Czech Republic. The good news, though, is that the feature just needs to be activated, and in a relatively hidden setting. Specifically, it is necessary to go to Settings -> General -> Language & Region, where down activate Live Text. In order to use the function, you must have the English language added. You can optionally add it above.

Surface settings in Focus

With the arrival of iOS 15 and other new operating systems, we also got a new Focus feature. For me personally, Focus is one of the best new features. This is because it is an improved original Do Not Disturb mode, which can do much more. Primarily, you can create several different modes, which you can then individually customize according to your taste. In addition, you can also set which applications will be able to send you notifications, or which contacts will be able to contact you. But you can also set the appearance of the home screen. In particular, it is possible to disable the display of notification badges, in addition, you can also set to hide some pages of the desktop in a particular Focus mode. You can do so in Settings -> Focus -> mode -> Desktop.

Notice of forgetting

Are you one of those people who keep forgetting things? If so, I have great news for you. In iOS 15, you can now activate a notification about forgetting a device or object. This means that as soon as you move away from a device or object, the iPhone will let you know via a notification. If you would like to activate the forget notification, open the native application in iOS 15 Find, where at the bottom click on the section Equipment whether Subjects. Then all you have to do is list the specifics click on the device or object, and then open the section Notify about forgetting, where you can activate the function and, if necessary, set it.

Change the text size in the application

You've been able to change the font size system-wide within the iOS operating system for quite some time now. This will be appreciated both by the older generation, who have difficulty seeing, and by the younger generation, who can display more content by reducing the font size. But the truth is that in some situations you might want to change the font size only in a specific application and not in the whole system. Apple added exactly this option in iOS 15, so it is possible to change the font size in each application separately. To execute, you must first go to Settings -> Control Center, where add a Text Size element. Then move to application, where you want to change the font size, and then open the control center. Click here element to change font size (aA icon), select the option at the bottom Just [app name] and finally using adjust the size of the slider.

Entering time data

Have you been among the users of Apple phones, and thus of the iOS operating system, for several long years? If so, you probably remember from iOS 13 how you used to enter time data here, for example in the Calendar or Clock applications. Specifically, you were presented with a rotating dial interface every time, which is similar to the dials on old phones. By swiping your finger up or down, you could set the time. In iOS 14, Apple came up with a change and we started to enter the time data classically using the keyboard. In most cases, users were not enthusiastic about this change, but they hardly got used to it, so in iOS 15 the rotating dial from iOS 13 is back again. the rotating dial is tapped with a finger, which brings up the keyboard and you can easily enter the time in this way as well.

Address bar in Safari

As I mentioned on the previous pages, iOS 15 comes with many new features and improvements. In addition, Apple has also come up with a brand new Safari, that too in version 15. Apple's native web browser has also received a significant facelift and several new features. As for the facelift, i.e. design changes, Apple has decided to move the address bar from the top of the screen all the way down. This should have made Safari easier for users to use with just one hand, as given the size of current phones, few people can reach up on larger devices. But it turned out that this was a rather unfortunate step - users began to complain en masse about this change. In later beta versions, Apple came up with a choice. This means that you can choose whether the address bar will be at the top or bottom. This change can be made in Settings -> Safari, where scroll down to the category Panels a choose your layout, which you want.

Home page in Safari

We'll stick with Safari even in this case. If you are also a Mac or MacBook user and have macOS 11 Big Sur (or newer) installed, you know that you can customize your home page in Safari in various ways. You can view various elements on it, and you can also change the background, which may be useful for some users. We saw the release of macOS 11 Big Sur last year, so it would be expected that last year's iOS 14 would also come with the option to customize the home screen. However, the opposite is true - we only got it now as part of iOS 15. in Safari to edit, so you just have to opened a new panel, and then they drove off all the way down where you click the button Edit. You can then set the display of individual elements in the interface, and you can also change their order. There is no option to change the background or to synchronize the start page across all your devices.

Change the time and date the picture was taken

When you capture a picture with an Apple phone or a camera, in addition to saving the picture as such, the so-called metadata is saved in the photo itself. If you hear the term metadata for the first time, then it is data about data, in this case data about a photo. Thanks to metadata, for example, you are able to read from a photo, for example, when, where and with what it was taken, how the camera was set and much more. Until now, you had to download a special app to view metadata in iOS, and that finally changes with iOS 15. You can view the metadata of a photo directly in Photos by you click on the picture, and then tap at the bottom of the screen icon ⓘ. In addition to viewing metadata, you can also edit it. Just click in the upper right part of the interface with the displayed metadata Edit. After that you are able to change the time and date the picture was taken, together with time zone.

Deactivation of automatic Night mode

If we look at the quality of the cameras of current smartphones, we will find that they are really of very high quality. And why not, when every year the largest phone manufacturers compete to come up with a better photo system. Some companies go about it by increasing the numbers senselessly, but Apple proves that megapixels definitely cannot be considered as a figure that decides the quality of the resulting photos. For several years now, iPhones have had Night mode, thanks to which you are able to capture beautiful images even at night or in poor lighting conditions. In many cases, Night Mode can help you, but sometimes you can decide to turn it off. However, whenever you exit the Camera app after turning it off, Night Mode will automatically turn on again after restarting, which may not be ideal. In iOS 15, you can finally set Night Mode not to activate after restarting the Camera. You do so in Settings -> Camera -> Keep Settings, where activate switch u Night mode.

VPN configuration

If you want to be sure that you are protected while browsing the Internet, the best thing to do is to use a VPN application. There are countless VPN services and apps available, so there are definitely plenty to choose from. If you choose a VPN application and install it, the VPN will not start working immediately afterwards. First, you need to confirm the installation of the VPN configuration. Only then are you able to use the VPN. If you use multiple applications to provide VPN, you will definitely appreciate the new interface for managing VPN configurations in iOS 15, which is much simpler and clearer. You can easily find this interface in Settings -> General -> VPN and Device Management -> VPN.
