I bought an Apple Watch a year and a half ago in San Francisco, and I've been wearing it ever since. I have been asked many times how happy I am with them, if they are worth it and if I would buy them again. Here are my top 10 reasons why I'm happy for the Apple Watch.
Excitation by vibration
A very pleasant transition from being woken up by sound for me. You don't have to decide what tune you have set, and you won't get sick of your favorite song trying to get you out of bed every morning.
Another huge benefit is that you won't needlessly wake up your partner lying next to you.
Frequency of use: daily
Unsubscribing to a message
You are running out of time and someone is waiting for you. Out of sheer impatience (or uncertainty about whether you will arrive at all), she writes you a message. Even during a hectic journey, you can immediately click one of the preset messages. Since the new version of watchOS, you can even “scribble” away. It is without a mistake.
Frequency of use: several times a month
phone calls
I actually don't even know what my phone sounds like. Since I have the watch, the vibration of my hand tells me about calls and incoming messages. When I'm in a meeting and I can't talk, I immediately press the call from my wrist and say I'll call you later.
Frequency of use: several times a week
Calling directly through the watch
The ability to make phone calls directly from the watch is also useful in times of need. It's not convenient, but I used it when I was driving and just needed a one-sentence response.
Frequency of use: sporadically, but at that moment it is very useful
Another meeting
A quick glance at my watch tells me when and where my next appointment is. Someone came to me for an interview and I immediately know which meeting I should take them to. Or I'm at lunch and I babbled. With a flick of my wrist, I know instantly when I need to be back at work.
Frequency of use: several times a day
Audio control
Spotify, podcasts or audiobooks shorten my daily commute to/from work. It often happens that I think about something and my thoughts run away somewhere. Being able to rewind a podcast by 30 seconds from your watch is priceless. It is just as convenient to control the volume without taking your mobile phone out of your pocket, for example when changing from/to the tram. Or when you run and Discover Weekly on Spotify didn't really hit the mark with the selection, you can switch to the next song very easily.
Frequency of use: daily
How will it be today?
In addition to waking me up, the watch is also part of my morning routine. I dress based on a quick look at the forecast, what it will be like and if it will rain, eventually I pack an umbrella right away.
Frequency of use: daily
Movement
It's always nice to meet my 10 steps daily plan. You can't say that it really motivates me to move more, but when I know I've walked enough that day, I look at the approximate distance and then I feel good about myself. In the new watchOS, you can also compare and challenge your friends.
Frequency of use: about once a week
Time shift
If you work with people who are on the other side of the world or at least in a different time zone, or you're traveling and you want to know what time it is at home, you don't need to add and subtract hours.
Frequency of use: a few times a week
Unlock your Mac with your watch
With the new watchOS, unlocking/locking your Mac just by entering/leaving has become another nice thing. You no longer have to enter your password several times a day. I'm just a little sad that it loses its meaning MacID application, which I have used so far.
Frequency of use: several times a day
Debunking myths
The battery won't last
In normal operation, the watch will last for two days. Our children will probably have a smile on their faces when we tell them funny stories about how we adapted to technology and looked for an outlet to charge our phone/watch/laptop.
I've developed a routine for charging my watch since the beginning, and it works perfectly: when I get home from work, before I go to bed, and in the morning when I go to the shower. During the whole time, my watch only died about twice.
The watch can't stand anything
I sleep with a watch. A couple of times I managed to smash them against a counter, a wall, a door, a car... and they hold. Still not a scratch on them (knock on wood). When I get sweaty while running, it's very easy to remove the bands and wash them off with water. In casting, you get such a grif very quickly that you can cast them in a second. The strap still holds and I haven't had them fall out of my hand yet.
Notifications are still bothering you
From the beginning, every email, every notification from every application really tingles you. But it's the same as on the phone, after debugging the notifications it's worth it. It's up to you. What you make of it is what you get. In addition, quickly switching the watch to Do Not Disturb mode silences everything.
What are the disadvantages?
Is it really that sunny? I see one big disadvantage in this. If you don't learn to live with your Apple Watch and look at your watch in meetings and conversations even in situations where you should be ignoring it, you will very often give the impression that you are bored or that you want to leave.
Reading the non-verbal gesture of "looking at your watch" is already so ingrained in people that you have to be really careful in what situation you look at them. It is then difficult to explain that you just received a notification or a message.
Still, it's clear that I'm really happy for the Apple Watch. I've gotten so used to them that if I lost them or they broke, I'd be forced to buy another one. At the same time, it is clear that they are not for everyone. If you like trivia, don't like to waste your time unnecessarily, and on top of that you have an iPhone, they are perfect for you.

Can I ask? How to control spotify on the watch?
Díky
There is no official application. At least a partial replacement is now being prepared in the form of Spotty. https://spotty.rocks/
I know about that one. I was just struck by the point "Audio control" In which Spotify is mentioned twice
I know about that one. I was just struck by the point "Audio control" In which Spotify is mentioned twice
Locking? I thought OS X could only auto-unlock
waking up? I don't know.. it's true that it's usually at +/- 50% at the end of the day, but if I let myself be woken up by the watch, I'll soon get tired :) or be woken up every other day :)
I even sleep with them. In the morning, it's just during the shower, etc. hours for half an hour and it's fine.
That's exactly how I work now too :-) Overnight I fall from 100% to 80%, but by the time I get out of bed and go to work I'm back to 100%. So when I come home from work, I put them down for a while because I don't run around with a watch at home.
I can't imagine sleeping with a watch on. It must be very unpleasant...
I also have a problem with that... I have to let my hand and skin rest a bit, I probably wouldn't be able to keep it on my hand for 23 hours, but some people are less picky. I usually ride on my hands during the day, at night in the dock, and I'll get tired of the vibration stimulation
Thanks for the article, it sums up AW exactly!
BRIEFLY AND CLEARLY SAID-YES THE WATCH IS AND WILL ALWAYS BE JUST AN OBJECT UNTIL IT HAS ITS OWN SIM AND HAS 1/2 YEARS TO CHARGE
That's just your wishful thinking to justify not having them.
Who has them knows what he could expect from them and I think I fulfill that quite well.
Now God spoke and he woke up wet? (sarcasm - for the fools who didn't understand)
After all, it's enough to refute what he wrote. Otherwise, it seems that he is right and the goose has spoken :)
These morons are clouds in discussions and it's not worth refuting anything. I have everything at home from incl. AW and I am extremely satisfied.. and if you understood it as he is right and you don't understand the irony, then I feel sorry for you?
Cool, me too, but the only thing I didn't understand is AW. Look cool, stay cool, and without your phone it's just a weight on your hand. Which of these is not true? Feel free to think that I'm trolling, but I didn't find a single reason to buy them. What the author writes are really cool features...
So just last week I bought a 7 Plus, I was restoring it from iCloud at work and since the mobile phone was out for 40 minutes, paradoxically people called me on AW that were connected to wifi, of course I don't force them on anyone, the shape didn't dazzle me at first either, but now maybe only in the car, when a notification comes, you immediately see if it's important.. Etc.. But of course that's everyone's choice.
So it's actually just a piece of shit, as it says :) It has its place on the market, but it would tear my veins for 10 CZK or more :)
You see, my steel ones cost over 30. They weren't in the Czech Republic and I got them from Dresden, but that's okay. Otherwise, the ability to communicate even if your cell phone goes off doesn't really sound like crap to me..
Mine doesn't. I only have a basic Fortis Fliger :) I'm poor and couldn't afford more expensive ones. No, it's not funny, I really have them. Feel free to throw a photo somewhere :) I'm not trolling.
While the S3s look like every other since Tinthons. A truly progressive design for a 21st century watch that isn't just for telling the time.
"without a phone it's just a weight on your hand"
I can't imagine being anywhere without my phone.
(except for the pool, sauna, etc., where I wouldn't even have a watch; in fact, the AW S2 can already go in the pool, that's a plus)
So this argument is moot for me.
Since the new version of watchOS, you can even “scribble” away. It is without a mistake.
—
But that only applies to English.
How to set the alarm only by haptics without sound?
I'm not 100% sure, but I suspect that for notifications you need to turn off the sounds and leave only haptic, then only haptic wakes up, so someone correct me...
Just turn on silent mode on your watch.
silent mode

How are they better or different from competing watches? Probably the biggest competitor of the Gear S3. I don't think they have a higher price and look nice on a woman's hand. In a boyish way ….. diplomatically speaking in a non-boyish way :) I am asking for facts, any impressions that you have a super system, I am free.
Because what I read, everyone can do it. Moreover, as I learn from the discussion, you can't do Spotify, which the competition can do.
In that with iphone, mac or the entire Apple ecosystem works significantly better than any other watch. And in general, apple has a better connected notification system than android (perhaps not every combination of android, but I haven't seen that yet). Concretely. The notification will only be sent to the device that is active (watch, mobile, mac/book/, tablet). Active means that the screen is unlocked, that is, that I am using it actively. If no device is active and the watch is on the wrist, the notification will appear on the watch. Of course, the message/event itself is present at the same time all over the rest. But it doesn't happen that I vibrate/beep/... all devices at once (as I've seen on people with Android and other solutions). Only one thing is always active. Plus, the first sentence - everything is beautifully connected to the Apple world and, above all, it works. If you don't have an iPhone - you have to look elsewhere.
So I didn't learn anything new. Do it Gear S3 vs. SGS 7 too. And it also runs flawlessly. Personal experience. I want to know what else he can do. I know about a lot of things that, on the other hand, it can't do, compared to the Gear. It is, for example, the aforementioned Spotify. Which Gear can do.
if you have an iPhone, AW knows how to work with it the most - complete connection with everything, Siri, dictation, unlocking the Mac, calls, just everything, health, physical activities. That is, not only notifications, but a complete connection with the entire ecosystem. With the androidwear/tizen/… watch, you only have a couple of basic notifications and reduced functions. The function ratio is thus 80:20 in favor of AW. If you have an android phone, you probably don't need AW. I don't know what you don't understand. You're on the apple site, so don't expect people to solve android. I have no reason :-)
It still doesn't tell me anything new. The Gear can do this too, maybe it's just that it doesn't unlock my MB Pro, but it doesn't really tear my veins.
Otherwise I think you don't know much about it. And you just think that. He can make calls, Siri is not in Czech, he can do health and physical activity, he can do notifications. Tell me what AW can do compared to Gear S3. I'm right here because I have everything from Apple, except for the watch at the moment. You are my girlfriend. But as a masseuse, she is a woman and it suits her, but functionally they are worse. Which you yourself confirm. Even if unintentionally. :-)
Apple watch does everything with iPhone better than gear s3. Get anything there :-)
And above all, see how he does it.
Well, I know, I keep saying that she's my girlfriend. But I don't see anything better. I mean mainly functionally. Something simply killer, I'll say yes, knock it down. You can't do that shit from Samsung and it's a bomb thing.
So why are you asking around when you know :) What is a killer feature? And what killer features do Samsungs have? Betrayal, let us know where we made (perhaps) a mistake, according to you :)
I don't see it, I wanted info from someone who can compare them and write that AW has a function or xy functions and Gear can't.
Well, the manufacturer has to come up with this for me to decide and tell myself which one to buy.
If you have Apple products, you probably know how its ecosystem works. This is a big advantage not only for AW over the competition. This has already been mentioned here several times, so no need to repeat it. Other things are system and application. I had some Samsungs from a friend to try and I didn't understand it at all. Terror. I didn't understand how they were controlled at all. (This was back when I didn't even have AW and didn't know how to work with them, so it wasn't just a habit from another device.) I don't even need to comment on Android Wear apps... To sum it all up, maybe they can't do that much more , or they don't have a killer feature, but neither does the iPhone or iPad. Those devices just work better than the competition, especially when you're in the Apple ecosystem. BTW: Black steel ones just don't look feminine at all, but that's probably a matter of taste.
I am quite allergic to the word ecosystem, in the context in which it is used. Its correct meaning is completely different and Apple has no ecosystem. Just find the definition of the word.
And now to the point. it's just an impression, maybe I didn't understand AW and I had to look at a lot of things in the manual. Because even the girlfriend didn't understand them. Cool, we're idiots who don't understand the genius of Apple. I'll admit it. That after xx years of using iPs, iMacs, etc. I didn't understand AW.
So I didn't find out anything about my simple question, while I clearly wrote that I don't want to hear similar impressions. But some facts. This reaction was just a waste of time. I keep reading that over and over. How it's connected, how it goes. No Gear vs. Samsung and other phones also work, even without a phone, compared to AW. Which is in stark contrast to the claim that they are user friendly.
It's not about the color, it's about the shape, but that's just an aside.
In addition, the Gear is not Android, but Tizen. Obviously, I probably know the most here and I'm just wasting my time.
https://www.wareable.com/smartwatches/tizen-os-vs-android-wear
Well, for comparison - listing the function is all you need from google + your evaluation, which is a killer for you. We as users can tell you how the functions work. And Apple is good at this - the functions work. Usually good to great. Look no further than that.
However, they are not perfect. Not even intuitive, like the iphone floods. I agree that I also had to look for a lot of things. However, even the S3 didn't do that to me (but that's subjective, I only played with them, I haven't had them for a year and a half like AW). Plus, if you have an iPhone, then only AW (it can provide all functions with an iPhone or a Mac). Other watches also have a problem with connecting and maintaining a connection with other smartwatches outside of AW. Until recently, Samsung didn't have any app - an official one - to do this.
There is also a shutter - only AW for iPhone. For other things - by choice. If iPhone and S3 is a dream combination, you will only get basic functions (that is, you will not use all fn S3, or fn. iOS itself) and in addition with problematic functioning (I don't know whose fault it is, but in the end it doesn't matter).
I don't think this will convince someone who is just trolling, but I agree
otherwise, a funny thing, if only a gloss than anything else... I'm on my way to the Dolomites right now. Samsung has a Gear ad on literally every lift... a billboard at every entrance to the lift, at every restaurant, absolutely everywhere (only the frontier and classic versions alternate)... But the Italians have either classic watches or AW on their hands... I'm here with Gear he hasn't seen it on his hand yet. I guess there are more billboards than actual watches.
Facts? Ok, so why are they better? I'm not even mentioning the higher quality apps and count per store compared to Android Wear. And Tizen? I don't think anything needs to be said about it. :D Fitness feature, many reviewers say it's the best (or most inaccurate) fitness tracker on the market. Try to find. Unfortunately, I don't know from experience. Appearance, some may like them, some may not. The fact is that you can currently get more straps and accessories on AW than you can find on Android Wear in its entire history. watchOS, whether you like it or not, yes it is a system. Update, optimize, ecosystem, control. Maybe even water resistance up to 50m, or GPS, but most others probably have that too, right?
And if I sum it all up, what I have already written is actually based on it. They don't offer you some killer feature, but they simply work for Apple users and are used better than others. And that's probably also why a significant part of the market belongs to AW.
I don't know what you'd call it, but Apple itself teaches its employees about its ecosystem. And yes, that's exactly what he calls it. Call it what you want, for you it might be "connectedness of all devices".
hooray … solved … congrats
I repeat……… I have one advice for you, don't buy them, you don't need them, you already have a reliable and working device.
….. mno, so I will try it…. AW will unlock your macbook "by chance". Furthermore, it has a well-managed replacement of straps, and last but not least, an excellent fitness function and accurate sensors, the best on the market. From S2 you also have a water fountain if you turn on the waterlock before showering. Otherwise, you don't have anything extra, except for a great display with a taptic motor, which works better than normal vibration, because it taps your hand, not rattles it.
Calls can be sent to the iPhone during the call and back to the watch as needed. All this in the graphical guise of iOS, i.e. graphically better than touchwiz shit and any other bazmek with a droid, on which the graphic designers spent a minimum of time, mainly so that it could go on sale and that's why it looks so bad.
So much for AW watches.
(Yes, and I have a company S6 Samsung, so unfortunately I have the "user-experience" with Samshit in front of my eyes every day. Unfortunately, it's such a tragic experience that I had to change it to an iOS skin so that it wouldn't bother me every other day, but it's still a shock.).
…buy that crap from Samsung and stop bothering !!!
When the arguments run out, the insults start :-)
And you learn to write .o)
well, I don't really understand what you need to hear to make it the "killer" for you... but the debate is and will inevitably be like that of idiots. others cannot know what the answer would be for you and you do not know what you need to hear. Think about it and come to terms with it. You don't hear about the main advantage of the "ecosystem" (don't worry, but that's the way it is), so probably nothing for you - done, they lost a customer in Cupertino and the poor people are going to take a breather and include it in the profit estimates for the next quarter, and half the discussion can easily be deleted :)
??
such as dictating a message
On the other hand, I read that people who have a Gear S3, even though Samsung made an app for iOS, have a problem with disconnection and subsequent automatic pairing, that's probably why people choose reliable compatibility even though they may like the Gear more.
It works for me without a problem. Gear S3 vs. SGS7 Edge. Gear are for men, my girlfriend had them, functional satisfaction, but simply terrible on a woman's hand. AW in Rose Gold great. But on the other hand, sorry again for the guy's hands AW well……
Ps it paired perfectly well with the LG.
But we're talking about iPhone pairing all the time right? Moreover, design is a matter of opinion. I have steel 42, steel link pull and great?? I couldn't have aluminum ones.
Sorry for the misunderstanding.
Well, I mainly wanted to know what makes AW better. Because, what the author wrote, nothing extra comes to me, and Gear can do it too. And girlfriend... well, she's a woman, so she's more interested in the butterflies and the floating jellyfish. So I won't hear much from her, Yes, she has some rings and that's what she's doing :)
I have the Fit function turned off, I won't use it. Otherwise, it is clear to me that the functions will probably be the same. It's about compatibility, I originally wanted the Gear S1, they were fancy but couldn't connect to iOS, so AW definitely won.
Well, I had to buy my girlfriend, on the other hand, an iP. After she excitedly unpacked them and found out that while the Gear can work independently, AW won't even start. Which I had no idea at all. So I ran in with a gift grrrrr...
Well, right? But at least she was happier?
That was her big disappointment, they are beautiful, rose gold is great, ….. choose the language, choose the country, and ….. nothing. Well, I'm still going for the iP grrrrrrr……
? so at least she got another present?
I have one advice for you, don't buy them, you don't need them, you already have a reliable and working device according to what you wrote.
Compared to the Gear, I often use remote control of volume and navigation with the AW. The AW is brilliantly simple and therefore usable.
This is interesting because exactly what you write that doesn't happen on Apple happens to me regularly: I'm typing on the iPad, iMessage comes, successively within a minute it beeps on the phone, laptop, desktop.. likewise incoming calls, they ring everywhere , I receive it on one device and it rings for another 20 seconds on a random selection of others. Strange that it doesn't happen every time, but I haven't noticed any pattern.
I have no clue. Maybe only in the settings, maybe something else. I'm not claiming that apple has everything 100% - certainly not.
I don't have a problem with that - for a long time. I use a macbook, iphone, but also AW for work every day, I have iPads at home (me + other family members), iPhones, I have wifi via airportextreme and I also have appleTV. Everything somehow works well for me and as it should. Or even a working combination of macbook, iphone and AW.
Sometimes it helps to log out of iCloud everywhere, reset and gradually log in again on all devices and set everything properly.
That's right, I also hear everything (the tablet about 2 seconds later) and after picking up the phone on the Mac, it still rings for 5 seconds, it really annoys me.
I use that call (iMac, iPad, iWatch and iPhone) every day and nothing like that happens to me, the delay is about 3-4 seconds at most, but maybe it depends on the quality of the wifi connection.
… about spotify – It's spotify's thing that they didn't make an app for AW. You have to ask why it is so.
Well, I would guess that Apple is behind it, because it is competition and they are running out of money. But I admit that's just my impression.
Yes it is because Spotify normally has an iOS app.
There is one more general answer that (for now) applies to Apple products. These are not exceptional in terms of their number or exceptionality, but in how it works as a whole. This is what sets Apple products apart (for now) from the competition. How it works. Nothing more, nothing less :)
Well, that's exactly the answer I didn't want. Impressions of how everything is sunny and going. I have quite a problem with wifi. I have Time Machine and Airport Express. And it's definitely not that perfect. I reset it every now and then because it crashes, in conjunction with MB Pro, iMac, iPad mini. I'm not even talking about cooperation with a TV or receiver. That's just the most blatant.
I don't have a TimeMachine, but I have a household in Airports and I restart it once every 2 months... The fact that they don't have AC, but only the N standard, that's a different matter :-( The fact that they don't have any logs is also a good thing...
Anyway, it must be said that I have 3 Airports in the noisy barracks. One as a WIFI master, including PPPoE to the Internet and then another 2 as repeaters. And I have one for connecting the TV to the WIFI network, because the TV and multimedia server are connected via a switch cable.
As for the comparison with the Gear S3, I can't help. I can compare the AW with the FitBit surge if you are interested…
Our Time Capsule has been running continuously for four years without a single problem. The only problems are caused by the internet provider. A total of twelve Apple devices run on it and without any problem...
I have an AirPort Time Capsule - 2 TB for about 4 years and I had to reset it 3 times, 2 times at the beginning before I set everything up and 1 time when switching to Mac OS Sierra on a MacBook Pro on an iMac without any problems. I can't praise myself, everything works perfectly, when I remember the hours spent at the routers in front of the Time Capsule, which I don't have to take care of other than wiping the dust, I want to cry even today.
The only flaw in the beauty is that when I turn off the iMac, I have to log in again manually to the disk in the AirPort Time Capsule, otherwise I can't see the disk, while Time Machine works, I don't know what to do with it, thanks in advance for any advice.
Once you have that network drive connected, open your iMac in finder (in the device section) and drag that network drive to the Favorites section (such as Movies, Desktop, AirDrop, etc.) Then when you need to access your network drive, just tap on it in favorites. The assumption is that you have the login name and password saved on the iMac in a key ring. Otherwise it will ask for login details.
I have both a Gear S3 Frontier and an Apple Watch Series 1… And I am currently advertising…. Watch.
The S3s are completely different and work seamlessly with the iPhone 7. The design is much more "masculine" and overall I like it much more, the workmanship is absolutely perfect, the display is fantastic, the Always-On function makes it a completely different device - a real watch and also works without a connected phone, control using the bezel is very pleasant and effective effective. Functionally, they have the same as the Apple Watch + many more expansion options, both in terms of watch faces (much, much more and prettier) and the applications themselves. I also enjoy playing sports with them.
I really use the watch, I make calls with it, I control what I need, and I find it very pleasant to work with the S3. In addition, they have a much better sound when talking on the phone, and the other party doesn't even know that I'm not talking on an iPhone.
So my summary: Gear S3 Frontier are definitely better. Incomparably.
so than the series 1, certainly yes ... for a person who does sports, only the series 2 makes sense ... waterproofing, GPS, improved and more accurate heart rate monitor, longer endurance and much more compared to the series 1 for everyday use ... applications using the new capabilities of the series 2 are still coming ... but those they are usually essential
Please, where did you find that the AW2 has a more accurate but longer battery life and applications that don't work on the AW1?
I don't miss GPS on the AW1, because I simply don't run without a phone, but I understand that some people don't mind the phone in sports. Waterproofness is irrelevant, because I normally shower with them, so the AW2 will probably be better only in the pool, otherwise no difference. The "beater" is completely comparable to the Polar chest belt, the endurance is the same (according to information from colleagues), but I don't see any extras on the AW2 without which "it's not the same".
And somehow I didn't notice the difference in speed, unless someone feels the booting seconds.
On the other hand, I would recommend the sale AW (approx. 12 thousand) to someone who does not want to heat 7 liters
Those S3 Frontier look really good to me. How about shatter/scratch resistance? And how do I call without a phone?
Can the Gear S3 communicate with iPhone apps? Or the API of iOS applications can only communicate with AW? Somehow I understood from this that they are two separate worlds, and that the Gear S3 only runs Android applications, which are separate and therefore not paired with the quite identical applications on iOS. Just like I'm sorry there isn't a Surface pro from Apple, it's a shame the AWs don't have a better design.
So let me answer :)
Resistance to breakage and scratches - the body of the watch is really sturdy, it is some kind of metal (alloy), the bottom is glass, just like the Watch, the cover glass should be the latest Gorilla Glass and so far without a single dent. The buttons also hold up nicely, without any play or signs of use, and the bezel does the same. At the same time, it serves as a buffer for Frontiers, but luckily I haven't had to use it yet :). But when it does, it will protect the display itself. I don't know what it is made of, maybe plastic, but it is very, very well processed and looks like honest metal.
Without a phone, it works like a classic watch + remembers everything since the last synchronization with the phone. That is, time, date, weather, contacts, S-Health, music (a perfect thing in connection with BT headphones - I have recorded music in my watch and I can go out without a phone), applications... Everything that does not necessarily need to be online works there . The useful value is therefore maximum.
It can communicate with iPhone applications without any problems, at least what I have tried so far. SMS, phone calls, weather, calendar, all notifications, control of the music player... So I didn't come across anything that didn't work.
I'm really excited about them. I'm a geek, I like technological gadgets and I'm really happy and satisfied with the S3. And I'm repeating this just to be sure - at the moment I really have both mentioned types (Watch and S3), so I can make a live comparison.
And to what jj writes:
I don't use waterproofing, but GPS is definitely a big advantage, and even bigger is that the S3 can really "live" without a phone (including watch faces like the dials - everything is stored in the watch), the pulse sensor works really reliably, the battery life on one charge is great (with really heavy use, I charge every night).
And another "little" trick:
The S3 has built-in WiFi, so it can actually work well without a phone. Weather, sunrise/sunset, app store and graphics + a lot of other things that can only be downloaded from the net can be easily handled without having to have a phone with you. And since they are really smart, if the phone is within range, they use BT (it consumes less). And when they get out of range and a known Wifi is available, they connect to it.
And AW has been able to do this since the first version. Wifi is a given and so is BT connection.
It seems to me that you have never had AW.
Yes, the S3 looks great, probably like an average watch in Vietnam. I really don't need a watch to give me masculinity. AW are wonderfully versatile and at least look like watches of the future. The embedded display in the bezel is also not exactly ideal for touch, and the circular display for all information is also not very good. Good as a monoscope or first TV.

For me, the biggest difference was reliability and control. Gear often did not respond to touch etc.
Here they claim that with an iPhone with S3 it is not even possible to respond to the message that the functions of everything are cut without Samsung apps. Is it true? https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=GePBGwV2Wsg
When two do the same thing it is not the same thing. Samsung especially slow with every similar feature on the phones too. Own experience.
Sorry for not knowing, what do AWs need an iPhone for besides making phone calls?
Can you say that to everything? Management of watches, applications, etc. is via iOS.
For me, I have 2 things, I have or rather had an Apple watch nike+ 42mm. I bought the watch directly from the Applestore and I didn't read the following before buying. The watch is delivered from Holland, and with that comes the unpleasant thing that the root applications on the watch are in Dutch even if you set the language to Czech and the location of the Czech Republic, applications from Nike, pokemons, maps and other fitness applications are in Czech on the iPhone, but the watch is he can only speak Dutch. Speaking of Pokemon, those on the watch still don't work, among other things. The only solution to get rid of the Dutch language is to reinstall the watch in English or another language. The second thing is the windshield. I assumed that something better would be used, I have a lot of Apple products and I treat them all with more than care and consideration I think and I love all of these products. However, I accidentally bumped the watch against a wooden door frame and there was a tiny scratch on the glass and a week ago I put it on my hand in the bathroom and the fall from wrist level onto the bathroom tiles was fatal for it, the whole windshield cracked and spilled out. I scolded myself and said to myself, well, the glass for the tablet costs 1200 and I change it myself, the glass for the iPhone 2500, so this will cost about 1000 to repair - well, yes, but I didn't know about the essential thing that really shocked me. He called I went directly to Apple to advise me where to repair the watch, they sent me a service contact and on Google I found the only company that officially offers glass repair at least for the first generation, and it is 5400,- for the repair, so it froze me, so I thought to myself so that's vp…. I called there and they told me that no one can repair the second series of watches yet, and most importantly that there are no parts on it and they won't be, and that Apple provides an exchange program, you hand in the battered one and you get a fungl new one, but you pay 7050,- which is still the cheapest price for range sport next is 8000 and more. So I took the watch to iSetos to be sent to Apple for sercis and diagnostics back to Holland where only the service takes place, the gentleman looked at it and felt sorry for me that I only had it for 40 days and said that no one can fix it, that they will send me a new one for the 7050 ,- if I agree, what can be said about it, since now I will have a watch for less than 20.000,- I have to take it more as a cosmetic accessory and treat it with extreme respect because even though there are certain foils and glasses and even craziness like a plastic cover for the body of the watch, the only solution that probably works is to have the watch insured for 1800-2400, which was offered to me by the man from iSetos, so when I see how reliable the insurance will be, I will decide what and how. Otherwise, even in the 40 days of use, except for the glass, complete satisfaction.
To begin with "you see how unlucky you are".
I have had the second generation watch since the end of November 2016 and I don't use any cover or film, I hate it.
I bought the Apple Watch 42mm – 1st and AW nike+ 2nd generation also directly from the Apple store (Czech) and everything was in perfect order. Did you miss the language complaint?
As for the display, literally smashing my hands against the metal case and tin cabinet countless times at work, all without a single damage, not even a scratch on the aluminum. Great quality for me.
I wish that they send you the new Apple Watch 2 NIKE in good quality.
We have 2 AWs in the family and I don't see any problems with the tongue :-) yes, once they went "crazy" and stopped measuring heart rate - a complete reset helped and since then I've been quiet for a few months.
for me, the replacement of straps on the AW is brilliant, it's something that should have been on a standard watch a long time ago... I go to work in a suit, so I wear a leather strap, in the afternoon some kind of sport, then a silicone strap and in the evening to the cinema, for example, a Milanese loop... always exchange in a few seconds. Previously, I used to wear up to three watches - simply doing sports and having movements on my hands, that's not exactly ideal...
this is of course also possible with other watches, please check what system Huawei Watch has. you can also change the strap in 5 seconds without a tool, the advantage is that you can also put any 22 mm strap there... although this eliminates the advantage of a quick replacement, but you can easily buy a strap from any reputable brand
I was surprised that the author of the article charges his watch 3 times a day and even writes that the battery will last a long time. I have a Samsung Gera 2 and I charge it once every two days. It really only happens to me once a year that they don't last at least 30 hours.
My Apple Watch lasts just fine for 3 days
And what are they for? :D
They last me 1 and a half days with normal notifications and a bike or booster here and there.
...and I even turn them off at night.
I use them intensively. If I save them, they will last for 5 days.
...then tell someone who doesn't have them. With this delusion, no one will believe what you write here.
Or someone tricked you and sold you some imitations ajpejWajtč :D
Come on. I have the latest series 2, they will give 3 days of heavy loads in complete peace, without effort. And I still have the lighting on after turning my hand. If I tried, they would give 5 days. It seems to me that you don't have them and you're just making things up... huh?
That will be judged by other aW owners. I don't take the fact that they last 5 days. I have an older generation aW, but even when they were new, they didn't last more than 1 and 3/4 days.
So you don't have them. That is what I thought.
...you are the "other"
:D
you probably have schizophrenia Mr. Viktor :D
So that you don't say so, here is an extract from the review and test: We started with a short-term comparison test. We took a Series 2 and a first-gen Apple Watch off their chargers in the early morning; twelve hours later, using both devices for the same tasks throughout the day and early evening, the Series 2 was on 86 percent and the first-gen on 49 percent.
I'll ask for a link, because google really can't find this quote anywhere
So I have Apple Watch Series 2 and 3 days? You're making fun of people here, aren't you? You probably have a Škoda battery connected to them if you give it 3 days.
Complain, because 3 days really gives it with peace of mind. Took it off the charger at 6 this morning and I'm now at 22% battery at 15:85pm.
Charging frequency is said to be his daily ritual...
He didn't mention how long it would take the watch to charge at any point in the day. His watch "only ran out of power twice." And then they lasted the two days...
It normally recharges once a day
it is written in the article ... but otherwise the AW s2 lasts 2 full days of normal use including logging, beating and sports. E.g. at this moment, in the evening before going to bed, after 9 hours of logging skiing and wearing it all day, including the tepák, which was measured all day while riding, I have 52%. It can therefore be said that with daily charging, one still has a reserve of one full day of operation in case one forgets. Otherwise, I was able to last 3 days of a long weekend of daily cycling with them... but I intentionally kept them outside of this activity because I knew I'd left the charger at home... but they gave it too.
Hello, what app do you use for skating? And is it a run or a downhill? Thanks for the info
I am not clear about the scratch resistance, do you have AW steel with sapphire glass or aluminum? I assume that sapphire won't scratch anything, but it also costs almost twice as much. I'm hesitating between the Gear S3 Frontier (I like their design much more), the AW series 2 (I'm a captive of the Apple system, so I'm under the illusion that they will work better with the iPhone and Apple apps), or wait for the AW series 3...
You are under no illusions. The Gear S3 will never be as closely tied to the iPhone as it is to the AW. I would only consider the Gear if I was commuting between an iPhone and some Android, but with the fact that I would have to miss out on the full user experience like with AW.
That intro screams so much, hey, I was in San Francisco, sit on your ass. Unfortunately, this was probably the main motivation of the author to write the article :-D
And basically, even unconsciously, it describes the typical hottents for which this "product" is intended.
A watch is perhaps smart, its wearer probably less so, if within the cool factor (or stupid factor) he likes doodling and doodling on the pid display or some dictation that needs to be corrected anyway or it is captured by a preset message with text that I never need. That is, of course, if the user does not work in the field of "contentless washing". At work I use an iPhone or a Mac, in my private life I completely postpone work matters and the last thing I need is for my watch to notify me of the next work meeting, message or email, in short, just another buzzing charging nonsense that I have to watch so that it doesn't get on my nerves, which it doesn't have no real meaning, except to find people or even vecpat... and the sales and inclusion in "others" in the annual reports clearly show this.
I use the apple "ecosystem" but I didn't want AW because of the price, because I didn't know what to do with them, now that they made Pebble cheaper (for obvious reasons) I tried Pebble. And if the article didn't say that it was an AW, I would have recognized it only by the fact that it doesn't stay charged for a whole week like the Pebble, otherwise exactly the same methods of use and experience.
In other words, I don't see any connection to the "system" here ;), other watches (even the cheapest ones) can do it just the same.
You're not serious, it's like comparing a BMW and a Trabant, they all have 4-wheel steering, and the Trabant gets enough fuel for less money, so it's better?
a wish from the father of thoughts... well, for starters, as far as I know, pebbles are over, they won't be anymore, and what fitbit will eat from them is the question, but for now it looks like a technological autopsy and a robbery at most... most of the useful things they have, but AW, of course, don't have pebbles... for example GPS, proper haptics, a little thought-out control, full integration with applications on the phone (no, I'm not counting and I'm not really talking about ordinary BT notifications, but about applications made for iOS and watches, or about the fact that SMS can be dictated by voice and mirrored the current behavior of the phone and complement it), not much in the heart rate monitor reliability tests either. As I understand it and I can understand that someone is trying to see if wheat with S3 would bloom instead of AW, I don't think so, but I can understand it ... but pebble is completely out of this league, sorry - the only advantage is endurance ... well if someone has to to be without electricity for 7 days is something to think about, but otherwise it is something completely different for other purposes.
I don't know Pebble, but before AW I had the highest fitbit model and that is incomparable. The user experience increased about a thousandfold with the switch to AW.
And what surprised me even more was when I compared both watches with the Polar chest strap. While the fitbit sport tracker successfully ignored any "spikes" of cardiac activity, the AW measured almost identically to the chest belt and recorded short-term peak values as well.
And another question from the other end, do they significantly reduce the AW endurance of the iPhone? iPhone battery life is no miracle in itself.
nothing that I've noticed...if they're reducing, not that I'm surprised or noticed.
Absolutely not
Hello, I am the owner of the new AW 2 and I still have these observations. Fitness apps like Runtastic and so on. they are unusable for water sports, i.e. they can't use GPS without an iPhone, I probably won't take an iPhone for kitesurfing. So far, I have not been able to pair the apple watch via bluetooth with the car radio or the phillips bluetooth adapter on the home hi-fi. So what can I pair it with? only headphones? Third party apps: I try to use watchify to play spotify. (I get into the car, the iPhone immediately pairs with the radio…..I turn on watchify on my watch and problems arise…..it just won’t connect…..I don’t know where I’m making a mistake, sometimes it disconnects but sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t)
In the house, I leave the iPhone upstairs in the bedroom and go downstairs with the watch…. on the watch it says connected……….well, when someone calls me on my iphone, the watch doesn’t activate……I tried turning off bluetooth on the iphone and the watch only connected via wifi……then when someone called me, it sometimes worked and sometimes it didn’t work…… ...so I don't know if I'm making a mistake somewhere or……..can someone give me advice on what to do with it?
The use of GPS integrated in the new version of AW (AW2) is implemented by application manufacturers gradually according to their priorities and preferences (i.e. they can do so, but it is up to them whether and when to use it). This is a new feature of the AW2 and it will take time for different manufacturers to take advantage of it. However, the native Exercise app can do it without difficulty (tested). For running and cycling, I think some have already implemented it, others are working on it. It means asking the developers of the apps you're interested in. For example, I'm waiting for Strava to come with integrated GPS support - they promise it this quarter.
AWs are not paired with anything other than a phone (headphones are an exception for somewhat compromised playback, for example while running) … the attempts you describe are a misunderstanding of the meaning and purpose of AWs … AWs themselves are primarily iP peripherals / accessories – they are a bunch of sensors and an extended iP display and under certain circumstances computers (unlocking), but the AWs themselves are not intended to serve as some kind of source that would connect other peripherals (as I say, the exception may be the headphones - but there it is intended only as a largely provisional for running and so).
Ofiko Spotify support is not and it is in the stars. The relationship between Spotify and Apple is quite strained, and Spotify does not rush into this functionality, and Apple probably does not make it any easier for it. Just really...
The reception of calls via BT has limitations given by the possibilities of BT as a technology... greater distance or obstacles limit the available bandwidth for transmission, and while it is still sufficient for normal watch communication with iP, it may not be enough for voice transmission in certain situations. AW has to somehow decide when to switch to a WIFI connection, which is much more robust and can transmit voice over a much greater distance and through more obstacles than BT, but at the same time it is significantly more demanding on the battery, so don't be proactive about it. Like any technology, BT has its limits and possibilities.
Pairing with BT in the car is not a problem for me, so I can't advise you on that. It almost annoys me sometimes that he forgets to switch music playback from aW to iP and it always goes with aW when I want it from iP :D
So sometimes the switching annoys me.
Half a year experience with AW2:
– battery: if I am not running or measuring my heart rate, the watch will last for two days during normal use (dictating SMS, occasional calls, checking e-mails and calendars); if I run, walk and measure my heart rate, day and distance - actually well-being, the same thing gives a person a phone
– phone: I have an iPhone SE, the battery lasts only slightly less with AW, nothing drastic
– display: I have an aluminum one and there are clouds of scratches, and I am careful. It can't be compared to iPhone glass
– the readability of the display is excellent
– GUI and controls: unusual, unintuitive, I solved it in the evening with a glass of wine and read the entire manual with it – it was a complete eye opener and suddenly I understood. It's been working ever since and it's intuitive.
- reasons why AW: mainly two - to measure the distance and kilometers traveled, and then limit squatting on the phone. AW solved both to my satisfaction.
I also have the aluminum version and so far only one minor scratch (forgot to take them off before bed)
But they don't seem too unwieldy to me. It happened to me quite a few times that I hit the door frame with them and surprisingly nothing happened yet. If it weren't for that unfortunate evening, I wouldn't even think about foil.
Unfortunately, I had to "wipe" them somewhere during the exercise because they are quite scratchy and quite disappointing. The funniest thing is that I read somewhere that AWs are not for sports at all and I should practically treat them like watches, so next time I won't buy AWs, but really watches and I'll pay extra for some Rolexes... Even though I'm with them as a sports coach absolutely satisfied, in the 3 months I've had them I've lost 4 kilos...
I would just like to know how it is with stainless steel ones, if they are also so susceptible or not...
Well, they fell on the pavement and the glass broke. The best part is the fact that I paid for accidental damage insurance with the dealer and the insurance company denied it at the first stage so I appealed and am waiting for a response. And I never lasted 2 days, at most until the second day late in the afternoon. I charge overnight.
that's why I think that electronics insurance is pointless…..you can't prove to anyone that your watch fell on the ground by accident.
What podcast app does the author use?
Because the native one that is in iP cannot be controlled. The only thing that can be controlled is the Music application.
I was looking for an app for podcasts, but I didn't find in them the series that I got used to from iP, such as my favorite "Czech Radio-Science and Technology"
