TV+ offers original comedies, dramas, thrillers, documentaries and children's shows. However, unlike most other streaming services, the service no longer contains any additional catalog beyond its own creations. Other titles are available for purchase or rental here. In this article, we take a look at what's new in the service for February 4, 2022, when we have a trailer for the Lincoln documentary series, as well as a list of BAFTA nominees.

Lincoln's Dilemma

Apple has released the official trailer for Lincoln's Dilemma, a new four-part documentary series about Abraham Lincoln during his presidency. The two-minute trailer presents the artistic treatment of the documentary as well as some of the journalists, educators and scientists who will provide commentary in it. The premiere of the documentary is scheduled for Friday, February 18.

BAFTA Awards

The British Academy Film Awards, also referred to as the BAFTA Awards, are awarded annually by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts. It is the counterpart of the American Oscar. The annual ceremony was originally held in April or May, but since 2002 it has been held in February to precede the Oscars. This year, its date has been moved to March 13. The Apple TV+ production has five nominations here, including three for the film In the Heartbeat. The nominees are:

  • Best Adapted Screenplay: Sian Heder for In the Rhythm of the Heart
  • Best Actress in a Leading Role: Emilia Jones for In the Rhythm of the Heart
  • Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role: Mahershala Ali for Swan Song
  • Best Supporting Actor: Troy Kotsur for In the Rhythm of the Heart
  • The best camera: Bruno Delbonnel for the movie Macbeth

Afterparty on TikTok

Apple TV + joins TikTok's marketing campaign in support of The Afterparty series, inviting users to sing a duet to the fictional hit Do Wet. The sponsored hashtag #DuetDoWet already has over 85 million views and counting. This "murder" comedy series revolves around the death of a pop star named Xavier, who is also the focus of a promotional campaign. Afterparty is already available for viewing on the platform, its premiere was on Friday, January 28.

Cha Cha Real Smooth

Apple again bought at the Sundance festival, thanks to which it won, for example, the film In the Rhythm of the Heart. However, writer-director Cooper Raiff's Cha Cha Real Smooth "only" grossed $15 million, which is a full $10 million less than its predecessor. Even so, it was the highest amount paid at this year's festival. Unlike many of Apple's recent film deals, this is an acquisition of a completed film, not a production or development deal. It is not known if the agreement also includes the release of the film in theaters before streaming itself. It has not yet been announced when we will see the premiere on the platform. It stars Dakota Johnson and Leslie Mann.
