TV+ offers original comedies, dramas, thrillers, documentaries and children's shows. However, unlike most other streaming services, the service no longer contains any additional catalog beyond its own creations. Other titles are available for purchase or rental here. In this article, we will look together at the news in the service as of 28/6/2021. This is mainly the hit Coda, but also the really challenging would-be parody Schmigadoon, which probably only loyal fans of musicals will understand.

Foundation

Apple has announced that its big-budget sci-fi series Foundation will premiere 24. September 2021, with the first three of the total ten episodes available that very day. The series is based on the novels of the same name by Isaac Asimov, and Apple first reported on it more than a year ago, as part of WWDC 2020. The series is supposed to be one of those that should entice many users whose subscriptions expire in the fall.

Defending Jacob

The series is a psychological thriller starring Chris Evans as a lawyer whose teenage son is accused of murdering a classmate. It had its premiere in April 2020 and we are writing about it now because it is the first production of the Apple platform to be released on Blu-Ray media and DVD. The first season is divided into three separate discs and includes bonus material. Both versions can be purchased at Amazon, when they cost you 35 and 20 dollars, respectively.

Liaison

The platform also announced its first original French production. The modern thriller serial drama called Liaison will star actress Eva Green and actor Vincent Cassel, both of French origin. The film will explore the devastating effects of past decisions on future ones, while being full of political and espionage plots. The series is currently filming in London and will feature a mix of French and English dialogue.

TV+ is facing pressure to increase the number of European productions as EU governments try to introduce new laws that would require streaming services to produce a certain proportion of their total content domestically. To date, the platform's library is largely limited to US and Canadian productions, with a small handful of titles originating from the UK. In addition to meeting quotas, such content also helps attract a wider subscriber base. The service is currently available in over 100 countries.

Strange Planet

Within the framework of the network, we should also expect an adaptation of the popular Strange Planet series by Nathan Pyle in collaboration with Dan Harmon, known for his animated series Rick and Morty, which is currently rolling series viewership within streaming services. Apple is said to have ordered 10 episodes of the animated series, which should even be produced directly at Apple Studios.
