The former head of the US Environmental Protection Agency, Lisa Jackson, who devoted herself to the environment even after moving to Apple, gained greater powers within the California company. The new will also deal with education or government affairs.

In an internal memo, Apple CEO Tim Cook announced the change, saying that Lisa Jackson's new position is in line with Apple's commitment to "leave the world a better place than we found it." Lisa Jackson will be new Vice President for Environment, Policy and Social Affairs.

As part of her promotion, Jackson will also be responsible for global government affairs and public policy. Specifically, it will deal with, for example, advocacy, which is an activity that will be discussed more after Tim Cook took over the leadership he speaks, or programs to introduce technology into schools.
