Among other things, technology is also related to culture, which includes science fiction literature. In today's part of our series called Back to the Past, we will remember the first edition of the book version of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams. But we are also talking about iTunes version 7.0, which included the ability to download music videos.

The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (1979)

On October 12, 1979, the iconic Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by writer Douglas Adams was first published. It is a book adaptation of Adams' radio play of the same name, which was broadcast by the BBC radio station in 1978. The entertaining sci-fi saga has become very popular and has been adapted into a number of other adaptations, including a play, a comic book, a television series, a video game and a feature film. The public liked Arthur Dent's stories so much that many countries around the world still celebrate Towel Day in May.

iTunes Videos (2005)

In version 6.0 on October 12, 2005, the iTunes service was enriched with the possibility of downloading videos. In addition to music videos from various artists, users could also download TV series through iTunes, such as the popular Desperate Housewives or Lost. The cost of one episode was less than two dollars on iTunes. For the same price, users could also download Pixar short films on iTunes. In September of the following year, iTunes also added the ability to download feature films from Disney, Pixar, Touchstone and Miramax.
