The arrival of the light bulb is undoubtedly one of the most important events in technology. Today is an anniversary that is directly related to the light bulb. But we will also remember a more recent event - specifically, it will be the presentation of Chromecast, a small but handy streaming device from Google.

Light bulb patent (1874)

On July 24, 1874, the Woodward and Evans Light Company patented a device for spreading artificial light using electricity in Canada. The patent, which was approved on August 3, 1874, was nevertheless sold a little later to Thomas Edison, who successfully patented a slightly different invention of the incandescent lamp in the United States.

Google Chromecast is Coming (2013)

On July 24, 2013, Google introduced Chromecast - an HDMI device designed for streaming video and other content from a computer and other devices to TVs - including "non-smart" ones. The Google Chromecast plugged into the HDMI port on the TV and charged from a wall outlet via a USB cable. The second generation of Chromecast was introduced by Google in 2015, three years later came the third generation Google Chromecast.
