Lately, we've been hearing a lot about what the EU is ordering, commanding, and recommending to whom. It primarily regulates so that one company does not have the upper hand over another. You don't have to like it, it's good for us in every way. If nothing, you can safely ignore everything.

That is, of course, with one exception, which is USB-C. The EU also ordered that it be used as a uniform charging standard not only for mobile phones, but also for their accessories. Apple only used it for the first time in the iPhone 15, although it already offers it in iPads or even MacBooks, when its 12" MacBook started the era of physical USB-C. This was 2015. So we will not bypass USB-C, because we have no choice. However, this exception proves the rule.

iMessage

In the case of iMessage, there is talk of how they should adopt Google's standard in the form of RCS, i.e. "rich communication". Who cares? To no one. Now when you send a message to Android from the Messages app, it comes as an SMS. When an RCS implementation is present, it will go through the data. Same for attachments and reactions. If you don't have an unlimited tariff, you save.

NFC

Apple only blocks the NFC chip in iPhones for its own use. Only AirTags have a precise search, which gives them a competitive advantage (through the U1 chip). Nor does it give access to alternative payment methods that are tied to the NFC chip. There is only Apple Pay. But why can't we also pay with iPhones via Google Pay? Because Apple doesn't want that. Why can't we open the locks via NFC when it works on Android? It is here that new doors of use can be opened for us with the appropriate regulation.

Alternative stores

Apple will have to open up its mobile platforms to other stores to complement its App Store. It will need to offer an alternative to getting content onto his device. Does this put the user at risk? To some extent yes. It's also common on Android, where the most malicious code gets into the device - that is, if you download confidential files, because not every developer necessarily wants to steal your device or dispose of it. But will you have to use this content installation path? You won't.

If you don't want to, you don't have to

In messages, you can ignore RCS, you can use WhatsApp, or you can turn off data and only write SMS. You can stay exclusively with Apple Pay for payments, no one forces you to do anything, you just have an alternative. There are many of these in AirTag, which are also integrated into the Find network, but they lack the exact search. In the case of downloading new content - the App Store will always be there and you won't have to use other ways to install apps and games if you don't want to.

All these news, which come from the "head" of the EU, mean nothing more to users than other options that they may or may not use. Of course, it's different for Apple, which has to loosen its grip on users and give them more freedom, which of course it doesn't want. And that's all the controversy the company is making around these regulations.
