Apple released its traditional Christmas ad on Monday. This year's is interesting for Czech users because a significant part of the advertising spot was shot in the Czech Republic, specifically on the square in Žatec. Since the shoot was accompanied by strict security measures, not much is known about the shoot. As a person who participated in the commercial, but who did not wish to be named due to confidentiality agreements, told Jablíčkaři, most people didn't even know that they were filming the commercial for Apple.

The Californian company chose Žatec for the key part of the entire advertisement, when Frankenstein, who is familiarly named Frankie in the spot, goes to the city to the Christmas tree. In the end, the city of Ústí beat Kutná Hora, Telč, Kolín and other cities that Apple considered.

Filming took place in Žatec from October 18 to 23, and the Czech Republic was chosen mainly because it is much cheaper compared to other countries and there are interesting natural and historical locations here. Apparently Apple was looking for places with a historical appearance, because similar squares with a church or arched arcades as in Žatec can also be found in Telč or Kutná Hora. In the United States, such places are hard to find.

For its Christmas commercial, Apple once again bet on director Lance Acord, who already created award-winning commercials two years ago "Misunderstood" a "The Song". Many certainly recognized Brad Garrett in the main role despite the mask, who is mainly known here from the series Everybody likes Raymond.

At the end of the ad, the message "Open your heart to everyone" appears, which, according to Apple, demonstrates one of the core values of the company - inclusion. "We wanted to release a message for Apple this time of year that reminds everyone that what drives us as human beings is the desire for human connection," explains in an interview for Fast Company Apple Vice President of Marketing Tor Myhren. His company has been creating Christmas ads in this spirit for the last few years.

Therefore, the product with a bitten apple is not the main subject of the entire advertisement. Frankenstein does use an iPhone, but it's mainly the message of the ad itself. "The real intention, as for several years, was to play on a slightly higher emotional level and in this case share one of the core values of our brand," adds Myhren. Apple is said to always try to send a message bigger than its products before Christmas.
