Eric Migicovsky founded Pebble (coincidentally also thanks to Kickstarter) back in 2012 and from the beginning tried to break into the smartwatch market. Their products were quite popular considering that it was more or less a crowdfunding company. But last year, Pebble was bought by Fitbit, and after four years, it came to an end. However, the founder of the company was clearly not bored, because yesterday he launched another campaign on Kickstarter. This time, it is not aimed at the smart watch segment, but at owners of wireless AirPods and owners of iPhones in one person.

He founded the company Nova Technology, and it has its first project at KS, which is a multifunctional cover for the iPhone, which also serves as a charging box for AirPods. PodCase offers several things to potential buyers. First of all, this is a "slim case" for the iPhone (although it doesn't look very "slim" from the photos). Furthermore, the package contains an integrated battery with a capacity of 2500mAh, which can charge both your iPhone and AirPods (in this case, the battery should be able to charge AirPods up to 40 times). Charging takes place via the USB-C connector, which becomes the main charging connector after installing the case.

Currently, two variants are being sold, for the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. The authors of the project announced on Kickstarter that after the presentation of the iPhone 8, it will be possible to order a cover for this long-awaited new product.

In practice, the case will work by allowing both the iPhone and the integrated battery to be charged at the same time. All this thanks to the use of the USB-C connector, which is much more suitable for this task than the proprietary Lightning. According to the authors of PodCase, the integrated battery should charge the entire iPhone 7.

The project is currently in the production planning stage. The first finished cases should arrive to customers sometime during February 2018. As for pricing, there are currently a few still available for $79, as part of the early backer tier. When these few (41 at the time of writing) sell out, more will be available for $89 (unlimited). The final price at which the PodCase will be sold after the campaign ends should be $100.
