The current version of the mobile operating system for iPhone and iPad is more effective than ever in the fight against theft. According to data from the US and Great Britain, iOS 7 brought up to a third improvement compared to last year. Users can especially thank the Activation Lock function.
This new feature presented in the seven version of iOS, which is also known under the Czech name Activation lock, secures the iPhone after it is lost or stolen. Ensures that a device with Find My iPhone enabled requires signing in with the original owner's Apple ID to reactivate. Thieves can no longer simply reset the phone to its original settings and quickly sell it in the bazaar.
The feature helped reduce thefts in the first five months by 19 percent, 38 percent, and 24 percent, respectively, compared to last year, according to New York, San Francisco and London authorities. These data were published by the initiative at the end of last week Secure Our Smartphones. Its author, New York State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman, openly praises the sharp drop in theft since the September introduction of iOS 7.
Android and Windows Phone platforms also contain similar protection features. These operating systems allow you to remotely erase all data from the phone, but they will not help the owner any further. In case of such a remote intervention, the device will only return to the factory settings, but will not provide further assistance. In most cases, the thief can immediately resell the phone.
According to the server Ars Technica Currently, several American states are already working on introducing legislation that would make anti-theft measures mandatory. The effectiveness of the Activation Lock function speaks in favor of such a law, while the possible negative effects on the market with resold phones speak against it.
Jablíčkář contacted the Police of the Czech Republic regarding domestic phone thefts, but according to the official statement, they do not have the relevant statistics available.

How else :D
Well, it will work :D But then a lot of people pay extra, firstly people who are stupid, so to speak.. When they create accounts, they don't care what password they give, just so they can quickly take a picture with their new iPhone (a friend) and secondly, people who get tanned like this at the bazaar. But again, it's just people's stupidity, because I would buy from the bazaar only after taking it in person. Most of the time, people hide problems, even if at first glance and in the photos, the smartphone may be flawless, the sound, the display, etc. may not work.
and the worst thing is that such iPhones will become like a brick in the trash..
When you contact Apple it will find the owner "with the right to the account" and either you will have to return it or it will unlock it.
