Just a few months ago, it seemed like pure science fiction. At the stroke of midnight on June 11, 2013, the website was launched on the yelp.cz domain. With this rather unexpected step, the Czech Republic became the 22nd country in which the American company will operate, and Czech became the thirteenth supported language.
At its debut, the Czech site yelp.cz offers a rather surprising and extensive amount of information.
Yelp purchased a database of businesses from an (unnamed) third party to start reviewing them. In addition, even before the launch of the service, it acquired several (probably several dozen) reviewers, thanks to which a detailed evaluation is already complete for many places.
Yelp's site functions as a social network as well as one huge database of restaurant, store or service reviews. Based on the ratings of other users, you can choose a restaurant where you can dine or find a craftsman in your immediate vicinity. Everyone can add their evaluation. Apple also uses this data in its maps and Siri technology.
Yelp's vice president of new markets, Miriam Warren, in an interview for E15.cz she stated:
"However, our cooperation with Apple will be relevant here."
9/7/2013 Yelp app was updated and thanks to that you can also use it in your native language.

I envy you.
Could this perhaps help to expand Siri in the Czech Republic? :) It would still need a Czech voice, for example from Dragon.
Hats off, to have everything honored at launch (what I crawled through), including the voice verification of the owner of the establishment over the phone. I did not expect that. Just to make it spread and appear on Apple Maps as well.
we are happy:)
I am glad that the service has arrived, but on my map so far there are only private people in family houses and a minimum of restaurants, for example... (Liberec). Hopefully it will grow soon..
yeah, i don't quite understand the data source. it probably took it from the wrong database. they are the seat of the business - the owner, not the establishment. so all are private addresses. the application is totally useful at the moment.
I wonder where it gets its information from. there is going to be a restaurant in our house, that's new for me after twenty years :D does a neighbor have a registered business at that address in some decorations for such businesses(?). Is there a way to suggest the record for deletion??? also, there are at least ten pubs/restaurants in the area and there is not a single one on yelp!
That restaurant, could it be MAMAhotel?! Sorry joke. ;o) Anyway, it's not just about restaurants, bars, but also self-employed people, etc. It's true that some restaurant facilities are then run under the owner's name. It's probably not possible to delete it just like that (I don't know), you can edit the information, the location is tied to the address you enter. It's the second day of official operation here, so I'm not afraid that it will get better with time.
