Microsoft introduced Windows 11 SE. It is a lightweight Windows 11 system, which is primarily intended to compete with Google's Chrome OS, places greater emphasis on the cloud and wants to be used primarily in education. And Apple could take a lot of inspiration from him. In a good way, of course.

Microsoft did not say why Windows has the SE moniker. It should only be a difference from the original version. It probably goes without saying that SE in the Apple world means lightweight versions of products. We have both an iPhone and an Apple Watch here. Windows 11 SE was primarily created for teachers and their students to provide them with a clear, uncluttered and intuitive interface without unnecessary frills to distract them.

App installations are fully controllable, they can be launched in full screen, there is less battery consumption and there is also a generous 1TB of cloud storage. But you won't find the Microsoft Store here. Here, the company is going to cut the maximum to the minimum, but still with enough to be competitive against Google and its chromebooks, which have started to push Microsoft out of the benches. The same can be said about Apple and its iPads.

Will we see macOS SE?

As stated in the title of the article, Apple has been directing its iPads to school desks for a long time. However, Windows 11 SE could be a different inspiration for him than in this regard. Microsoft has taken a grown-up desktop system and made it "kiddie" (literally). Here, Apple could rather take its "child" iPadOS and replace it with a lightweight version of macOS.

One of the big criticisms of iPads is not them as a device, but the system they use. The current iPadOS cannot exploit their full potential. In addition, iPad Pros already have a mature M1 chip, which also runs in such a 13" MacBook Pro. Although this is not a device intended for school desks, they are too expensive for that, but in a year or two the M1 chip could easily be used in the basic iPad. It would be appropriate to provide him with more space.

However, Apple has already made it known several times that it does not want to unify iPadOS and macOS. It may just be the wish of the users, but it is true that Apple is then against itself. It has devices that could handle macOS SE. Now I just want to meet customers and give them something more.
