The new product in the SanDisk range is designed for users who are looking for a convenient way to back up photos, videos and contacts from their iPhone. Using the iXpand Base does not require any changes to the daily routine, the user just connects their iPhone to the iXpand Base and the contents of the phone will be automatically backed up while charging.
According to recent research1 more than 85 percent of respondents say they use their iPhone as their primary device for taking photos and videos. The large amount of digital content created on the iPhone requires additional options to work with this data. Western Digital decided to support daily backups to an external drive and combined phone charging with backups. This gives users a hassle-free and simple solution for backing up data from their iPhones and iPads.

The capacity of the SanDisk iXpand Base external drive is up to 256 GB 2 and therefore provides users with enough capacity to automatically back up files in their original quality, without having to pay additional monthly fees for remote cloud storage services3 . The iXpand Base external drive has compact dimensions and is designed to be easily placed on a bedside table or desk, its surface is rubberized and it has a dedicated space for the practical storage of a Lightning cable. The 15W charger quickly charges the iPhone while the device backs up data via the iXpand Base app. Restoring backup content on iPhone is also easy and fast. To restore data to your current phone or a new phone, simply connect your iPhone, open the iXpand Base app and click restore data.

The iXpand Base external drive will be available through Amazon, BestBuy.com, B&H Photo Video.com, and a network of other retailers and distributors. It will come in capacities from 32 GB to 256 GB.
