On Monday, a jury in federal court in San Jose met once again to recalculate the damages Samsung should pay Apple for copying its products. In the original verdict, it was found that one of the accused devices was not included. But the resulting amount did not change in the end, it remained at almost 120 million dollars...

Last week the jury she decided, that Samsung infringed several Apple patents and will have to pay Apple $119,6 million. Apple was also convicted of copying patents, but only has to pay almost 159 thousand dollars. Importantly, however, the jury made a calculation error and did not include the Galaxy S II and its patent infringement in the resulting sum.

Therefore, on Monday, the eight jurors sat again and presented a corrected verdict after two hours. In it, the compensation was indeed raised for some products, but at the same time it was reduced for others, so in the end the original amount of $119,6 million remains intact.

Both sides are expected to appeal various parts of the verdict in turn. Apple already on Friday thanked the court and the jury for their services and acknowledged that it was shown how Samsung knowingly copied its inventions. Now Samsung has also commented on the whole matter, for which the current verdict is a practical victory.

“We agree with the jury's decision that it rejected Apple's wildly excessive claims. Although we are disappointed that patent infringement has been found, it has been confirmed to us for the second time on US soil that Apple has also infringed on Samsung's patents. It is our long history of innovation and commitment to customer wishes that has led us to the role of leader in today's mobile industry," the South Korean company commented on the situation.
