The battle for our wrists is starting to pick up steam. After the introduction of the Samsung Galaxy Gear watch and the new version of the FitBit Force, Nike also came up with a fresh iteration of its bracelet. It's called the Nike+ FuelBand SE.

Nike first came up with a device designed to be worn on the wrist in January 2012, when it launched the original generation of the FuelBand. In this way, he expanded the long-existing Nike+ product line, which is intended especially for athletes. At the same time, these products work closely with Apple devices – for example, the Nike+ Running application or a special running sensor in the shoe.

However, since January of last year, there has been no hardware upgrade, and in the meantime, more and more manufacturers have presented their solutions: Jawbone, Pebble, Fitbit, Samsung. Nike is now trying to respond to this development after a year and a half. However, it is already clear from the name that these will not be revolutionary changes; the brand new bracelet is called Nike+ FuelBand SE (Second Edition).

The most obvious change is the color revival of the FuelBand – the original all-black design is now complemented by pastel colors in the details. Red, yellow and pink are available to choose from. However, the black color still plays well.

According to the manufacturer, the FuelBand SE will also be more waterproof than its predecessor and should also bring other design changes. These are supposed to ensure greater flexibility. The "display" has also received modifications, the LEDs of which are now brighter and easier to read. In terms of functionality, the bracelet should now monitor activity during sleep. However, according to the manufacturer, updated applications will bring more options than new hardware.

The new FuelBand will connect to the iPhone using the new Bluetooth 4.0 protocol, which consumes significantly less energy than its predecessor. We should expect savings on both the phone and the bracelet itself.

The Nike+ FuelBand SE will go on sale in the United States on November 6 this year for $149. There is no information yet regarding Czech distribution (Nike officially did not even sell the original version in the Czech Republic). Those interested will have to go to Germany or France to get the bracelet, or hope that the Czech Nike representative will eventually believe in the potential of the developing wearable electronics market.

Another option is to look for alternatives that are available in the Czech Republic. For example, they can be products of the Fitbit brand, whose newly launched FitBit Force bracelet we are talking about this week informed. It is also offered by us reviewed the Pebble watch, and we shouldn't forget the speculation about the iWatch, Apple's smart watch, whose introduction expects soon.
