It looks like one of the most useful features will disappear from iOS 13 – thankfully, but apparently only temporarily. This is iCloud folder sharing, which is suddenly completely missing in the current beta version of iOS 13. But the option to pin a file for offline saving has also disappeared.

Ulysses developer Max Seelman explains the whole situation on his Twitter. According to Seelman, Apple rolled back virtually all iCloud changes in the Catalina and iOS 13 operating systems. We will most likely not see folder sharing again until iOS 13.2, but possibly also until iOS 14.

The cause is most likely a spectacularly conceived "behind the scenes" update of the entire iCloud system, which began to cause significant problems, due to which it was postponed indefinitely. These changes are also apparently behind the disappearance of other iCloud functions and elements that were still available in previous beta versions of iOS 13. Among the features not found in the latest beta version of iOS 13 is the aforementioned file pinning, which made it possible to create a permanent offline copy of a given file in the Files app. In the latest beta version of iOS 13, local copies are automatically deleted again in order to save storage space.

Apple is not in the habit of getting rid of things that work. Therefore, the removal of folder sharing via iCloud is most likely due to the fact that due to the changes made as part of the update, the system did not work as it should. Apple made a brief statement about the iCloud issues - telling users that if they're missing some files, they can find them in a folder called Recovered Files under their home folder. Additionally, according to Apple, there may be problems with automatic file downloads. These issues can be resolved by downloading one item at a time. If you experience problems connecting to iCloud while creating a document in iWork applications, simply close and reopen the file.

Let's be surprised by what the full version of the iOS 13 operating system will look like, which we will see in just a few days.
