With an hour left until the start of the Apple keynote, renowned journalist Mark Gurman and respected analyst Ming-Chi Kuo come with the latest and most detailed information on what to expect tonight. The revelations mainly concern the new iPhones, which will ultimately lack the previously speculated function, and their expected designations have also undergone a slight change.

Gurman and Kuo corroborate each other's predictions, and both say, for example, that the new iPhones will ultimately not offer the expected reverse charging, as the efficiency of wireless charging reportedly did not meet Apple's requirements and the company was forced to remove the feature from the phones at the last minute. Reverse charging was supposed to allow wireless charging of accessories such as AirPods, Apple Watch and others directly from the back of the iPhone. For example, Samsung offers a similar function with its Galaxy S10.

But we also learn other interesting things that clarify what we can expect tonight. For example, Ming-Chi Kuo has specified which chargers each phone will come with, and the good news is that we are in for a positive change in this area. We have clearly listed all the information in the points below:

  • The basic model (the successor to the iPhone XR) will be called the iPhone 11.
  • The more premium and expensive models (successors to the iPhone XS and XS Max) will bear the name iPhone Pro and iPhone Pro Max.
  • All three iPhones will feature a Lightning port, not the previously speculated USB-C port.
  • The iPhone Pro will be bundled with an 18W adapter with a USB-C port for faster charging.
  • The cheaper iPhone 11 will come with a 5W adapter with a standard USB-A port.
  • Ultimately, neither iPhone will support reverse charging for charging AirPods and other accessories.
  • The design of the front part and cutout will not change in any way.
  • New color variants are expected (most likely for the iPhone 11).
  • Both iPhone Pro will have a triple camera.
  • All three new models will offer support for ultra-broadband wireless technology for better room navigation and easy location determination of a specific object.
  • Neither iPhone will end up offering the speculated Apple Pencil support.

In addition, Gurman adds that Apple will introduce the next generation of the basic iPad this evening alongside the new iPhones, which will increase the diagonal of the display to 10,2 inches. It will be the direct successor of the current model with a 9,7-inch display, which the Cupertino company unveiled last spring. Detailed information about the new basic tablet remains shrouded in mystery for the time being, and we will learn more at the Apple keynote, which starts in exactly an hour.
