Vratislav Holub Already in June, we informed you through an article about the development of a new smart watch that the giant Meta, better known as Facebook, is working on. According to the information so far, it is not just an ordinary watch, but a high-end model with the ability to compete with the current king - the Apple Watch. However, it should be noted that not much information is known about this piece for now. But one thing is certain - the work is going on at full speed, which was also confirmed by a newly leaked image published by the Bloomberg portal.

The aforementioned image was discovered in the Ray-Ban Stories smartglasses management application from Facebook. In the app, the watch is referred to as a model marked “Milan", while at first glance you can see a large display that closely resembles the Apple Watch. But the difference is a slightly more rounded body. At the same time, however, it is necessary to draw attention to a relatively important matter - we will probably never have to wait for a watch in this form. It is therefore necessary to take the photograph with a distance, rather only as a hint of what could actually come in the finale. Undoubtedly, the lower notch, or cut-out, draws the most attention to itself in this case. Among other things, Apple is betting on it with its iPhones and now MacBook Pro (2021), for which it is also facing an avalanche of criticism. In the case of the watch, the cutout should be used to place the front camera with a resolution of 1080p for possible video calls and selfie photos.
What features will the watch from Facebook offer?
Let's quickly point out the functions that the watch could actually offer. The arrival of the aforementioned front-facing camera is highly probable, as it was rumored some time ago and the current photo more or less confirmed this speculation. Anyway, it doesn't end here. Facebook is preparing to charge the watch with various functions. By all accounts, they should be able to measure the physical activity of the user in question, check his state of health and deal with receiving notifications or possible communications. However, it is not clear what the monitoring of health functions could actually be. Sleep and heart rate monitoring can be expected beforehand.
Does Apple have anything to worry about?
The current smart watch market is dominated by the world-famous giants Garmin, Apple and Samsung. So a rather ambiguous question arises - can a complete newcomer compete with the current kings of the market, or will it be placed far below them in the ranking? The answer is understandably unclear for now and will depend on many factors. At the same time, it is worth mentioning that this is not such an unrealistic task. This is easily evidenced by the front Full HD camera itself. The aforementioned companies have not used something like this yet, and it can undoubtedly be a feature that users can quickly become fond of.

To make matters worse, there is also talk of implementing a second camera, which should be located on the underside of the watch, pointing at the user's wrist. This could be used, for example, for ordinary photography, when it would only be enough to take off the watch and you would practically get a "separate camera." Now everything is in the hands of Meta (Facebook). The aforementioned health functions, which smart watch users are very happy to hear about, can also play an important role in this regard.
