Even before yesterday's event, information was circulating on the Internet that Apple would introduce a new production process for a new series of notebooks. This whole speculation came from the English word "brick" (kostka in Czech). Today, this production technology was revealed and Apple gave a peek under the hood at its event. If you have a fast enough connection, I recommend a high-quality video of the production of these new laptops. This technology definitely brings us higher quality, higher durability and a much finer design.

An exclusive look at the manufacturing process of Apple's new line of laptops

In a press release, Steve Jobs said of the new manufacturing process: "We've invented a new way to build a laptop from a single block of aluminum." Jonathan Ive (senior vice president of Industrial Design) continued: “Notebooks have traditionally been made from many parts. With the new Macbooks, we replaced all these parts with one body. So the body of the Macbook is made from a single block of aluminum, making them thinner and more durable with much stronger edges than we ever dreamed of.”

Previous Macbook Pro models used a thinner curved chassis that had an internal skeleton to hold all the parts together. The top part was screwed to the frame like a lid, but it was necessary to use plastic parts to make everything fit as it should.

The new chassis of the Macbook and Macbook Pro consists of a cube of aluminum that is carved using a CNC machine. This process guarantees us highly precise processing of the components.

So the whole process starts with a raw piece of aluminum, which was chosen for its good properties – strong, light and flexible at the same time.

The new Macbook gets a basic chassis skeleton…

…but of course it has to be further processed

And this is the result we all want! :)
