Games that require you to tilt the iPad are very popular. In the second generation, a gyroscope was also added to the accelerometer, which records even the slightest tilt of the apple pie. This fact Tilt to Live HD uses perfectly.

Classic mode

The content of the game is very simple - you are in the role of an arrow that dodges red dots in a limited space. However, it is not necessary to just cowardly run away. There are four main weapons (a bomb, a freezer, rockets, and a kind of pulse weapon) that you activate by passing an arrow over a bubble with a picture of that weapon. You get a point for each dot, but multiples of six are multiplied for each additional kill within a certain interval. It is not a problem to upload several tens of millions of points during one game.

The more time has passed in the game, the more the dots become more aggressive and their number also increases. Here and there the dots will also arrange around you in a circle with one hole and you have to swim through it quickly or face a red death grip. Another underwire is the grid, which the dots form all over the playing field. The dots also form various formations such as arrows, squares, straight lines and other shapes that make the player's movement uncomfortable. Here the pixels really decide to successfully get the weapon and eliminate dozens of darting dots. Of course, it's game over once you get caught by one of them. If you think you can outrun them, you won't. You are predestined to doom, the goal of the game is to collect as many points as possible.

The game offers five more modes, but at an additional cost of €3,99. This in-app purchase also unlocks additional weapons - wormhole, rotary machine gun, protective bubble, gear, napalm and electric shock. Although all weapons are gradually unlocked after reaching certain points for achievements, however, from my own experience I can recommend the purchase with a clear conscience.

Red Code

This is Classic Mode in accelerated form. Dots multiply incredibly fast, which gives the game the right juice. The scoring is exactly the same. Personally, I like this mode best because it has a fast fall.

Gauntlet Evolved

You don't have any weapons at all, you just have to dodge. You earn points by collecting bubbles. First they are green with a 50 point award, then they turn blue and increase their price to 150 points. If you don't pick up a single bubble for a few seconds, it will turn green again. The game is made more unpleasant by flying swords and axes, which gradually get faster and faster.

Frostbite

Frozen dots drift from the top edge of the display. Your task is to destroy them before they reach the bottom edge with water, where they melt and start chasing you. Again, the pace inexorably increases over time, until some red creature catches you anyway.

¡Viva la Turret! and ¡Viva la Coop!

Again a bounded space, again you as the arrow and red dots as the enemy. There is only one weapon available, namely the rotary machine gun. Shot dots turn into blue diamonds. You attract another machine gun to you by shooting at it. If you don't have time to pull it, you have to collect diamonds, otherwise the next time you collect the machine gun, it will disappear. According to their number, every other shot point will be multiplied. You continue like this until, you guessed it, a red dot grabs you.

¡Viva la Coop! is the same as ¡Viva la Turret!, but this time you play with a teammate. One of you shoots the machine gun, the other collects diamonds and carries the machine gun to the shooter. So you can't attract him by shooting him like in singleplayer. Unfortunately, you can only play multiplayer with friends locally using bluetooth. Hopefully, there will be an option to collaborate online at some point.

Since the iPad cannot always be held in an ideal position, Tilt to Live HD offers a very precise calibration of the gyroscope. If you're not satisfied with the default positions for leaning forward, sitting or lying down, you can simply set your own by placing the iPad in neutral and confirming. You can also adjust the tilt sensitivity along the vertical and horizontal axes.
