After a week, on the website of Jablíčkára, we are once again bringing you a regular pre-weekend summary of events that took place in connection with Apple during the past week. This time we will talk, for example, about the increase in the price of some services from Apple, as well as about the significant personnel changes that the company has recently experienced.

Increasing the price of services

In the long term, Apple has made no secret of the fact that it wants to put more and more emphasis on its services, which at the same time become a significant source of income for it. We are living in a time of intense price increases, which seems to be not avoiding this area either. At the beginning of November, Apple began to send an informative email to subscribers of its services, such as  TV+, Apple Music or the Apple One package, that due to the constant increase in the costs associated with the operation of these services, their prices will be increased. The increase in prices is in the order of tens of crowns - in particular, the price of a monthly Apple Music subscription has increased from the original 149 crowns to 165 crowns, for  TV+ even from 139 crowns to 199 crowns, and for the individual version of the Apple One package from 285 crowns to 339 crowns.

Personal changes

Recently, Apple has also been dealing with quite significant personnel changes. Right at the end of October, chief designer Evans Hankey left the ranks of his employees, after only three years of working at the company. Apple confirmed this fact in one of its official press releases. However, Evans Hankey announced in this context that he will continue to work at Apple for some time, most likely until a suitable successor can be found. At the beginning of November, news appeared in the media that more people were leaving the company - this time, specifically, Anna Mathiasson and Mary Demby. At Apple, Anna Mathiasson was responsible for the management of the online Apple Store, while Mary Demby was entrusted with the management of the information systems section. Further details have not yet been published, as well as who should replace the mentioned managers in their positions.

Anna Mathiasson was in charge of the online version of the Apple Store:

Belt-tightening at Apple

Server AppleInsider reported on Wednesday, citing sources close to Apple, that the company is currently drastically reducing its budget for hiring new employees. Tim Cook denied this claim, saying that Apple does not limit the recruitment of new employees, only that it is more judicious in their selection. However, the available reports are more likely to indicate a reduction in the budget. For example, BusinessInsider reported that Apple has indeed temporarily "frozen" hiring new employees, and that new hires could be suspended until possibly September 2023.

Embezzlement worth millions

Dishonest employees are everywhere, and Apple is no exception. A case in point is last week's report that one of the company's now-former buyers embezzled $17 million during his tenure at Apple. The aforementioned employee diverted money in this way for seven years, but his behavior was only revealed after a thorough audit and subsequent investigation, during which the person in question first vehemently denied his accusation. He is currently facing up to twenty years in prison.
