Today's summary of events related to Apple is quite varied. For example, we will talk about a bizarre error in Apple Maps, which leads dozens of people to the door of a completely uninterested person, about Apple's advice to users who want to update the firmware of their AirPods, and also about why and how Apple wants to be even greener.

Bizarre error in Apple Maps

In Apple Maps, or rather in their background for the native Find application, a very bizarre error appeared during the past week, which made the life of a man from Texas very unpleasant. Angry people started showing up at his door, accusing him of carrying their Apple devices. They were directed to the address by the native application Find, with the help of which users were trying to locate their lost devices. Scott Schuster, the owner of the said house, was understandably scared and decided to contact Apple support, but they were unable to help him. The maps also show Schuster's address in other places in the vicinity. At the time of writing, there were no reports of whether or how the situation had been resolved.

Apple advises on updating AirPods firmware

While you can update watchOS, iPadOS, iOS or macOS operating systems manually if needed, AirPods wireless headphones update their firmware automatically. This has the advantage of not having to worry about anything, but sometimes it happens that the firmware is updated with a considerable delay. This problem is often the target of many user complaints. Apple has decided to respond to disgruntled users, but unfortunately this is not twice as useful advice. In the related document, the Cupertino giant advises that if users do not have an Apple device within reach to which they can connect their AirPods and thus perform an update, they can go to the nearest Apple Store and request an update for this purpose. So it looks like we won't be able to manually update the firmware, for example, through the iPhone's settings.

An even greener Apple

It is no news that Apple invests a lot of money in activities related to recycling, minimizing the carbon footprint and protecting the environment. In 2021, the Cupertino company established a special investment fund called the Restore Fund, from which it finances activities related to improving the environment. It is in this fund that Apple recently decided to invest an additional 200 million dollars, thereby doubling its initial commitment. The "green commitment" of the Cupertino giant is quite generous - Apple would like to use the said fund to remove up to one million tons of carbon dioxide per year.
