Today's roundup of news that has appeared in connection with the company Apple during the past week will again be partially marked by reactions to the Vision Pro headset. In addition, there will also be talk about the hefty fine that Apple had to pay to the Russian government, or why you should not hesitate to upgrade to iOS 17.3.

First reaction to Vision Pro

Apple launched pre-orders for its Vision Pro headset a few days ago, while giving some journalists and creators a chance to try the headset out for themselves. The first reactions to the Vision Pro were mostly marked by evaluations of the comfort of wearing the headset. The editors of the Engadget server, for example, stated that the headset is relatively heavy and causes noticeable discomfort after only 15 minutes. Others also complained about the rather uncomfortable wearing and tightening, but the actual use of the headset, together with the user interface of the visionOS operating system, was evaluated mostly positively. On the contrary, the virtual keyboard was received with embarrassment. Sales of the Vision Pro will officially start on February 2nd.

Apple has paid a fine to Russia

It is not unusual for Apple to face all kinds of lawsuits and accusations related to its App Store. It was precisely because of the Apple Store that the Russian Federal Antimonopoly Service fined the Cupertino company last year about $17,4 million. In relation to this fine, the Russian news agency TASS reported this week that Apple had indeed paid it. At issue was Apple's alleged violation of antitrust laws by giving developers no choice but to use its own payment tool in their apps. Apple has already made a name for itself by repeatedly and steadfastly resisting allowing app downloads outside of the App Store or making alternative payment methods available.

iOS 17.3 fixes a dangerous bug

Apple also released the long-awaited iOS 17.3 update to the public during the past week. In addition to a handful of new features, the latest public version of the iOS operating system also brings an important security bug fix. Apple said on its developer website this week that hackers were exploiting the flaw in their attacks. For obvious reasons, Apple does not provide specific details, but Apple users are advised to update to the latest version of the iOS operating system as soon as possible.
