Apple had to deal with two legislative decisions this week - a hefty fine in Spain and a court decision regarding changes to the terms of the App Store. However, both cases will most likely end in an appeal by Apple and drag on a bit more. In addition to these two events, in today's summary we will recall the presentation of the new Beats Studio Pro.

Apple introduced Beats Studio Pro

Apple introduced the new Beats Studio Pro wireless headphones mid-week. The presentation of the upgraded version of Beats Studio took place through an official press release, the novelty is supposed to offer improved sound, more comfortable wearing and an improved function of active noise cancellation. Battery life should be up to 40 hours on a full charge with active noise cancellation disabled. The Beats Studio Pro headphones are equipped with a USB-C port, but also offer a classic 3,5 mm jack connector for possible listening "via cable". The price of the headphones is 9490 crowns and they are available in black, dark brown, dark blue and beige.

...and the fines again

Apple again faces the obligation to pay a hefty fine. This time it is the result of an agreement with Amazon regarding the granting of authorized seller status in Spain. The local antimonopoly authority fined the Cupertino company 143,6 million euros, but the situation did not go without consequences for Amazon either - it was fined 50.5 million euros. However, the two companies have decided to appeal the allegation that their deal negatively affected many of the country's smaller retailers.

Apple doesn't have to change the rules in the App Store — for now

Apple's rules regarding setting up subscriptions and payments in applications within the App Store have long been the target of criticism from various quarters. The dispute between Epic Games and Apple became known to many years ago - the company was not satisfied with the amount of commissions that Apple charges for profits from the App Store, and decided to bypass the payment gateway in the App Store, for which it earned the removal of its popular game Fortnite from the apple online app store. However, according to the latest court decision, Apple does not in any way violate antitrust laws with this behavior. But that doesn't mean that everything can stay the same. Apple was ordered to allow third-party developers to use alternatives to the payment gateway within the App Store, however, the company was given a three-month deadline to put the mentioned changes into practice. But it is assumed that Apple will appeal to the Supreme Court instead of obeying the decision.
