Google launches first beta of 64-bit Chrome for Mac (28/8)

Google has currently released the first beta version of its 64-bit Chrome browser for OS X, which, according to information, is still in a testing state and therefore very unstable and not intended for regular users. Until now, all Chrome browsers on Mac used 32-bit versions, which work reliably, but do not use their full potential, since all Apple computers have been equipped with 64-bit processors for a long time.

According to available information from Google, the 64-bit version of the popular browser will bring more speed and security improvements, including a reduction in memory requirements, since the 32-bit application needs a little more memory, and with the new version, users should ideally save some RAM space.

The average user probably won't even notice these changes, since even today most applications in OS X run on 64-bit versions. According to the source, the official 64-bit version of Chrome should arrive sometime during the month of September.

Rovia CEO resigns, studio profits fall (29/8)

The executive director of the highly successful Finnish studio Rovio Mikael Hed is leaving his post. "It's been an amazing ride and I'm very excited to hand over the reins to Pekka Rantal in the coming months as he takes Rovio to the next level," said Hed, who headed Rovio during its Angry Birds heyday. The highly successful game series, which earned the studio millions of dollars, still remains popular, but recently it has fallen out of the top 2012 most downloaded apps, which has also affected financial results. Compared to 37,2, last year Rovio earned only half (XNUMX million dollars) and this is supposed to be one of the reasons why Mikael Hed ends at the head of the company. However, he remains in Rovio and, according to his words, wants to continue to be an active member.

Artkina

A new Czech iOS application has been released Artkina, where you can find the current program of so-called art cinemas in Prague, Ostrava and Brno. According to available information from developers from the GoodShape company, additional cinemas will gradually be added throughout the Czech Republic. And what can Artkina actually do?

After starting the application, you will be greeted by an interesting graphic design, where on the first page you will see a list of all the films that are shown in the indicated cinemas throughout the Czech Republic. After clicking on the given film, you can read a brief description and content of the film, a link to the Czechoslovak Film Database (ČSFD), find out the price of tickets and view images from the film. If you are interested in a movie so much that you don't want to miss it, you can set a time notification in the application, when the application will notify you that the movie is already showing.

Of course, the application does not lack the possibility of various filters and settings, where you can search only selected cinemas or the cities themselves. Supported cinemas include Aero, Bio Oko, Světozor, Evald, Atlas, Mat in Prague. In Brno you can search between the Scala cinema, Lucerna Brno or Kino Art and in Ostrava Minikino.

Notability comes to Mac

The note-taking application Notability has found many satisfied users on the iOS platform just because it appeared in the App of the Week section for one week in the past and was therefore free. Many users have taken advantage of this opportunity to take advantage of all the great features Notability has to offer. This week, Notability also found its place in the version for the OS X operating system.

All notes you create in the app are automatically shared via iCloud, allowing all users to seamlessly move from the iOS app to Mac. The application can also automatically back up to Dropbox and Google Drive. If we look at the graphical design of the application, we will find an environment that is specially designed for Mac, but at the same time, users will see many similar or the same elements known from the iOS version.

Of course, the application does not lack various gadgets, keyboard shortcuts, work with images and text, and last but not least, various graphic adjustments and options, including audio recording. Look for the application in your Mac App Store for a solid nine euros.

Alone

The new game Alone, which has appeared for iPhones and iPads in the App Store, can keep you company in the coming days or weeks. Your task will be to control a miniature object flying through galactic objects, with which, of course, it must not collide. It's not an innovative gameplay model, but Alone still manages to impress.

[youtube id=“49g6Wq7w2-4″ width=“620″ height=“350″]

Above all, the control is excellently executed, which is almost millimeter, so you just drag your finger across the display instead of swiping, and the object moves up and down accordingly. You can only collide a few times until you lose all defensive shields. If you last long enough, unlock the next and harder level. The great controllability is complemented by an excellent soundtrack, and even though Alone's graphics are flat, the developers won with a lot of details that you will encounter on the way to survival. The game is available for less than two euros in the universal version and with no in-app purchases.
