Apple's iPad celebrates its tenth anniversary this month. Of course, more people are behind the development of this tablet, but Imran Chaudhri and Bethany Bongiorno are considered key Apple employees, who decided to share their memories of the development of Apple's first tablet in an interview this week. The interview offers an interesting insight into the background of the creation of the iPad, the mood in the team and what ideas Apple initially had about the iPad.

Do you still remember the era of digital photo frames? This too was supposed to be one of the purposes that the iPad was supposed to serve. But you would look for a camera in vain on the original iPad, and almost immediately after it went on sale, it became clear that people definitely did not want to use it as a photo frame. When a new generation iPad with a camera later appeared, the team was surprised by how popular photography on the iPad eventually became.

Bethany Bongiorno said in an interview that when the company was talking about the possibility of using the iPad as a digital photo frame, the team also asked the question of how users would get the photos onto their tablet. “We didn't really think people would go around and take pictures on an iPad. It was actually a joking internal conversation, but then we really started to see people out there carrying the iPad around and taking vacation photos with it.” he remembers.

Imran Chaudhri adds that the camera was one of the things that the company simply did not predict the future popularity of. "I remember very clearly the 2012 London Olympics - if you looked around the stadium you could see a lot of people using iPads as cameras," he states, but adds that these were often people who, for example, needed a larger display area due to vision problems. According to Bethany Bongiorno, she is most proud of the fact that the team responsible for the development of the iPad was basically a kind of "startup within a startup", but managed to develop such a successful product even with a relatively small number of members, and at the same time fulfill the vision of Steve Jobs.
