Along with iOS 8, many third-party keyboards are heading to iPhones and iPads that will try to offer users a better experience than Apple's stock keyboard has given them so far. Developers from SmileSoftware, who made TextExpander famous.

TextExpander is a popular application, especially for Mac, that allows you to insert parts of text or various media using quick keyboard shortcuts. For example, instead of a long "Regards and have a nice day", just type "spzdr" and TextExpander will automatically insert the entire password.

The advantage of Mac is that everything works within the whole system. Until now, TextExpander was very limited in iOS, effective shortcuts practically only worked in its own application, and greater use of TextExpander on iPhones was not possible. However, extensions and third-party keyboards in iOS 8 change everything, and TextExpander will be fully usable on mobile devices as well.

"Since Apple announced new and exciting extensions and custom keyboards in iOS 8, we've been hard at work," the developers at Smile Software revealed when they revealed the upcoming keyboard. "TextExpander touch 3, coming this fall with iOS 8, includes a TextExpander keyboard that expands shortcuts to any app on iPhone and iPad, including essential apps like Mail and Safari."

This is certainly great news for TextExpander users, because once you get used to the shortcuts that work on your Mac, it's hard to get rid of them on other devices. Shortcuts are, of course, synchronized between all devices, which will continue in iOS 8, so working with them will be as efficient as possible.
