Yesterday, Electronic Arts (EA) officially announced the end of its Tetris series of games. As of April 21st, these games will stop working on all iOS devices and will also be pulled from the App Store - the reason is license termination. Today, a brand new game called Tetris hit the iOS App Store, promising users the traditional gaming experience loved by millions of players around the world.

It would be hard to find someone who doesn't know the cult game Tetris, and who hasn't played it at least a few times in their life. EA's iOS versions of Tetris - Tetris 2011, Tetris Premium and Tetris Blitz - were very popular among users, and the announcement of their impending end disappointed many. But it was to be expected that the iOS App Store would not remain without Tetris for long.

Blue Planet Software, which is the exclusive agent for the Tetris brand, told the Cult of Mac website that N3TWORK will be the exclusive developer of new Tetris games going forward. Apparently, the developers were in a hurry, and the aforementioned title appeared in the iOS App Store already today. The game promises the same controls and gameplay that players can remember from EA's Tetris, and its creators have promised new features and more fun in the future.

"Tetris is one of the most popular games in the world and we are very excited to bring the experience to millions of people around the world for free," said Neil Young, founder and CEO of N3TWORK, adding that their Tetris will initially only offer a game mode for single player, but that they have a number of other interesting plans for the future. The controls of N4TWORK's Tetris are the same as EA's version, and the game offers haptic feedback and five different themes that users can switch between. Last June, the Tetris Company promised the release of Tetris Royale - an online multiplayer version of the Tetris 99-style game for the Nintendo Switch. However, it is not yet certain when the game will be available on the App Store.
