One image often appears in my childhood memories. As a ten-year-old boy, I had to have an operation on my tonsils, and I remember that when the nurse took my temperature, I looked like spring. Instead of the classic mercury thermometer that I was used to from home until then, she pulled out a prototype of the first digital thermometer. I still remember how he started hollering when my temperature climbed over 37°C. However, time has moved forward by less than twenty years. Today, if she used a smart device iThermonitor, so she would be able to take my temperature comfortably office chairs via iPhone.

The iThermonitor is a small device that is primarily intended for children, but adults can also use it. The magic of this well-designed sensor is that it monitors and verifies the temperature every four seconds, with a maximum deviation of 0,05 degrees Celsius. Of course, you will appreciate his services especially during the period of cold or illness. And how does iThermonitor work?

Using the included patches, you simply attach the sensor to your child's armpit area. You press an unobtrusive button on the device and you're done. After that, all you have to do is pick up your iPhone or iPad and launch the app of the same name, which is available in the App Store Free Download. You then turn on Bluetooth on the apple iron and find out how your child's temperature is in no time.

iThermonitor communicates with your phone via Bluetooth 4.0, and the results of individual measurements are immediately available to you. The premise is that you check a child's fever much more regularly than an adult. Especially at night. The only limitation remains the range of the device, which is approximately five meters. Unfortunately, it often happened to me during testing that I walked a few steps away from the iPhone and warning sounds about signal loss were already heard.

However, a smaller range can be solved with a second device – you leave one near the thermometer, it will collect data, then you can use the other one from any distance, because it will read data from the cloud. You can also set certain limits and ranges of body temperature in the application, and if the temperature exceeds the given limit, you will be notified immediately via notification (in future versions, a text message or e-mail is also possible).

Therefore, iThermonitor's own cloud constantly backs up all records in one place, so they are available again if needed, and at the same time they are linked to one account. Thanks to this, you can use multiple devices and keep everything under control. The latest innovation is synchronization with the integrated Health application, where all statistics are also saved for you (see the last screenshot below; at the moment there are not too many sensors that can fill the Health application).

In addition, the iThermonitor application offers various user features that can make caring for a sick child more pleasant. You can thus use, for example, notifications for the administration of a cold pack or medicine, set various notifications and alarms, or just write down your own notes, which you can then consult or share with your pediatrician.

In the package, in addition to detailed manuals and the thermometer itself, you will also find one battery that powers the entire sensor. In addition, you will receive a patch pack and one plastic gadget to help you open the battery compartment. The manufacturer states that the battery will last more than 120 days, while you can have the device on for eight hours a day.

Personally, when I tested the device on my body, at first it was slightly uncomfortable and even strange. However, within a few minutes, I completely lost sight of it and only realized I had it glued to my body when the iPhone beeped and alerted me that I was out of range.

The iThermonitor device will be appreciated by every parent who - when necessary - wants to have their child's health under control and the associated peace of mind. The application itself is well-designed and above all user-friendly. In just a few minutes, absolutely everyone can get to know it, and measuring the temperature is really a piece of cake.

Regarding the hygienic side of the device, the sensor is not waterproof, but it meets the certification of electronic medical devices for use on the body. So he has no problem with sweat. It is enough to wipe it after use with a cleaning solution containing alcohol, which you can buy for example in a pharmacy, which should be a common procedure for normal electronic thermometers as well.

You can buy the iThermonitor smart baby thermometer for 1 crowns. The good news for all parents is that the iThermonitor application is in Czech.
