There are quite a few applications in the application stores that can very accurately describe to visually impaired users what is in the photo. Of all the ones I tested, it was TapTapSee that did the best, which, despite its slower response, can read a lot of information from the photo. Today we will focus on her.

After downloading and agreeing to the license terms, a really simple application interface will appear where you can choose from options Repeat, Gallery, Share, About a Take a picture. The first button is used for the reading program to repeat the last recognized image, the others according to the label I probably don't need to explain. I mostly use the app when I want to recognize a product. For example, yogurt packages are often similar to the touch, and when you want to choose blindly, you need an app for that. If we move on to the recognition itself, it is really very accurate. The data about a specific thing also includes the color of the object or its immediate surroundings, for example what it is placed on. But when you read the captions, you will recognize that it is a machine translation into the Czech language. Most of the time, it is clear from the description what the object is, but for example, sometimes it happened that I took a picture of a person with glasses and TapTapSee informed me that the person had glasses on their eyes.

The disadvantages of this recognition program are basically two: the necessity of an Internet connection and a very slow response. You have to wait a few seconds for recognition, which of course is understandable on the one hand, but it cannot be said that this fact would save time in any case. It's definitely a shame that TapTapSee can't recognize text. There are other apps for that, but I don't think it would be that hard to implement this feature here as well. On the contrary, a huge advantage is that it is an application that is completely free, which is not often seen in software for the disabled. For me, TapTapSee is one of the best recognizers of its kind. There are disadvantages here, especially the need for an Internet connection and slow response, but otherwise it is a pretty good application that I can only recommend to blind users, and since it is free, the rest of you can easily try it out.
