Apple has been placing increased emphasis on ecology and the environment for a long time. After all, some of the actions of this California company and its statements discuss this. For example, according to an earlier statement, the company's goal is to have a zero carbon footprint by 2030, but this also applies to all other companies in the supply chain. So it is not surprising that in this industry the giant is constantly moving forward. And this is exactly what is happening now.

Today, Apple issued a new statement in which it also boasts of a new technology for disassembling older devices with the aim of recycling and reusing some materials. Specifically, the company announced for the first time ever certified recycled gold and a doubling in the precious elements and cobalt recycling sector. Last year's numbers speak for themselves. In all Apple products for the year 2021, almost 20% of the materials used were recycled materials. And the way it looks, the situation will only get better. The new Taz technology can help the company with this. This is an electronics recycling machine that should be able to get more reusable materials out of it.

The Cupertino giant can already boast of its progress in the case of aluminum. Again, let the numbers speak for themselves. For 2021, 59% of the aluminum used came from recycled sources, with many devices even boasting 2025 percent. Of course, the focus is also on plastics. These have been a huge problem in recent years and are directly involved in polluting our planet Earth. After all, this is precisely why the company is trying to eliminate plastics from the packaging of its products, which it aims to achieve by 2021. In 4, plastics accounted for 2015% of the packaging. Even so, this is a huge step forward, as they have been reduced by 75% since 2021. As for other materials, Apple products in 45 used 30% certified recycled rare earth elements, 13% certified recycled tin and XNUMX% certified recycled cobalt.

Reusability is extremely important in the world of electronics. By recycling rare earth elements and others, the environment is significantly saved and the necessary extraction is reduced. It can be explained beautifully with an example. While from 1 ton of iPhones, Apple's recycling technology and robots can get much-needed gold and copper, which other companies would only get from two tons of mined rocks. Using these recycled materials can then extend the life of the Apple devices themselves. After all, their refurbishing helps. For 2021, Apple sold 12,2 million refurbished devices and accessories to new owners, which is quite a high number. Unfortunately, we do not sell these pieces officially.

But let's go back to the new Taz machine. Thanks to the new technology, he is able to separate the magnets from the audio modules and thus obtain rare earth elements for further use. Alongside him is a robot called Daisy, which focuses on dismantling iPhones. In addition, Apple now offers companies to license the necessary patents so that they can use the technologies for their own solutions, completely free of charge. Subsequently, the Cupertino giant is still equipped with a robot named Dave. The latter disassembles the Taptic Engine for a change.
