If Smart Cover didn't appeal to you from iPad cases, there is a wide range of other manufacturers from which everyone will surely choose. Among them is the Canvas 3 from SwitchEasy, which we will introduce in this review.

Canvas 3 belongs to the category of cases that protect the iPad over its entire surface. It consists of two interconnected parts. The first of these is the back cover made of a polycarbonate shell, into which you insert the tablet. It is made really precisely, the iPad fits perfectly in it and the holes for the connectors are precisely aligned and easily accessible. In addition, the edges have a slight overlap over the edge of the display, thus protecting in the event of a fall on the front glass part. The shell is relatively sturdy, so it should have been able to withstand a fall without major damage.

The second, textile part, hugs the iPad from both sides and is attached to the first part on the middle of its back. The outer side of the package consists of a nylon sheet that is quite scratch-resistant. If he wasn't attacked by the blade of the knife, he should have lasted a long time. The cloth is very pleasant to the touch and has a very luxurious industrial feel.

The inner part that is in contact with the display is covered with suede. However, this is not the cheap-looking suede that you see on low-quality packaging from an anonymous Chinese manufacturer. On the contrary, it looks very high-quality and doesn't look like it's just getting worn out. A very interesting element is the pattern, which adds elegance to the suede side and at the same time partly acts as a stop when positioning.

The packaging can be partially folded out. The back side is divided into two halves by a bend, with the use of less force, the velcro is undone and you can immediately position the display in a vertical direction. The iPad is built on the front part, and thanks to the rubber stops, the display can be tilted in the range of approximately 30-90 degrees. While the positioning is ideal for watching videos and offers much more variability than the Smart Cover, it's not the best for typing. Even in the lowest possible position, the tilt is too great to comfortably write on the screen.

Canvas 3 is really sturdy and will significantly increase the thickness of the iPad, more than twice as much (dimensions approx. 192 x 245 x 22 mm). It's certainly great for protecting the iPad, but it loses the charm of its compact size. You will feel the sturdiness most if you hold the tablet with one hand. When you flip the front part back, you can really feel the thickness difference in your hand. However, this may be an advantage for someone with larger hands. The package is otherwise quite heavy, weighing approximately 334 g.

Magnets are sewn into the cover, which hold the front part on the display, just like the Smart Cover, and it also offers the option of turning the display off/on when flipped. This is almost standard among packaging manufacturers these days, which is only good.

In addition to the packaging, the package also includes a pair of dust covers, or two of each, for the docking connector and audio output. They are made of the same material as the shell part, which makes it a great match. The caps hold quite well, and you don't have to worry about them falling out and getting lost during normal handling. The package also includes a film for the display and a cleaning cloth.

If you're looking for a sturdy case for your iPad with positioning capabilities, SwitchEasy's Canvas 3 is definitely an interesting choice. This is truly a high-quality, precisely crafted product and will not embarrass your tablet. The only thing that really bothered me about the packaging was the chemical smell reminiscent of mothballs (used against moths), which I could smell several days after unpacking, and I can still smell it at the time I write this review. Canvas 3 from SwitchEasy is available in five different designs (black, brown, grey, red and khaki) at a price of CZK 1.

You can buy it, for example, in the e-shop Obala-na-mobil.cz, to whom we also thank for lending the packaging.
