China is currently plagued by extreme rainfall and floods, which partly affects Apple as well. The unfavorable situation also affected Apple's largest supplier, Foxconn, which even had to suspend operations in some of its factories in the Zhengzhou region. A number of water systems lie in the area and are therefore prone to flooding in their own right. According to information from the Wall Street Journal, three factories were closed for a simple reason. Because of the weather, they found themselves without electricity supply, without which, of course, they cannot continue to function. Electricity was down for several hours, with some areas even flooded.

Despite this situation, no one was reportedly hurt and no material was damaged. In the current situation, Foxconn is clearing the mentioned premises and transferring the components to a safer place. Because of the bad weather, the employees had to go home for an indefinite period of time, while the more fortunate ones can at least function within the framework of the so-called home office and do their work from home. But there is also the question of whether there will be a delay in the introduction of iPhones due to the floods, or whether there will be a situation where Apple will not be able to satisfy the demand of apple buyers. A similar scenario took place last year, when the global covid-19 pandemic was to blame and the unveiling of the new series was postponed until October.

Nice render of the iPhone 13 Pro:

Foxconn is Apple's main supplier, which covers the assembly of Apple phones. In addition, July is the month when production starts in full swing. To make matters worse, this year the giant from Cupertino expects significantly higher sales of iPhone 13, which is why it increased the original orders with its suppliers, while Foxconn also hired far more so-called seasonal workers. The situation is therefore unclear and for now no one knows how it will continue to develop. China is plagued by the so-called thousand-year rains. From Saturday evening to yesterday, China recorded 617 millimeters of rain. However, the annual average is 641 millimeters, so in less than three days it rained almost as much as in a year. This is therefore a period that, according to experts, occurs once in a thousand years.

However, it should be noted that the production of new iPhones is being worked on in other factories in normal mode. At first glance, it seems that Apple is not in any danger due to the bad weather. However, the situation can change from minute to minute and it is practically uncertain whether more will not be added to the three decommissioned factories. In any case, there has been talk for a long time that new Apple phones will be introduced this year, traditionally in September. According to analysts from Wedbush, the keynote should take place in the third week of September. Currently, we can only hope that this natural disaster will end as soon as possible.
