In 2014, we are still waiting for the first completely new product from Apple. In the meantime, however, it is interesting to see what documents appear in the Californian court, where the patent dispute between Apple and Samsung is ongoing. An email from Steve Jobs from 2010 has been published, in which the late co-founder of the company presents his long-term vision…

Electronic message, the full text of which you can view here, was intended for Jobs' most senior colleagues and included topics intended for the so-called Top 100 - an annual secret meeting of a hundred of the company's most important employees, where the strategy for the coming year is discussed. And one of the most interesting points of the extensive email is the mention of "Apple TV 2". The updated Apple TV has been talked about in recent months as the next new product that Apple should introduce, and Steve Jobs obviously had it planned for a long time.

Offer Apple TV 2 is listed at the end of the report, with the following strategy written next to it: "Staying in the living room game and creating great 'must have' accessories for iOS devices." Also under this point is the addition of content (NBC, CBS, Viacom, HBO ,…) and the potential implementation of TV subscriptions. And after the question below "Which way should we go?" is followed by the bullet "app, browser, magic wand?". As early as 2010, Steve Jobs was considering which path to choose for Apple TV in order to reach the largest possible number of customers.

However, Phil Schiller, Apple's head of marketing, said in his testimony that the e-mail in question was only suggestions, not definitively established strategies and parameters. From this point of view, it is said that the mention of the "Holy War with Google" should be taken into account, to which Jobs added in the report that he would fight with Google by all possible means. In connection with Google, Jobs also mentioned that it is necessary for Apple to catch up with Android in iOS where the competing system has the upper hand, and at the same time overtake it, for example by implementing Siri. At the same time, Google planned to overtake Jobs in cloud services, when he admits in an e-mail that Google has a much better solution cloud service for contacts, calendars and mail.

Already in 2010, Jobs was also clear about two other iPhone models. He detailed the future iPhone 4S, referred to in the email as the "plus" iPhone 4, due out in 2011 (and it did), and the iPhone 5 was also mentioned.

In the coming weeks when it will be lawsuit between Apple and Samsung to continue, we can expect to see more evidence presented, which will be internal documents of both companies that should never have been made public. Apple is demanding more than two billion dollars from Samsung for copying, South Koreans are bragging that the patents that Apple is being sued for are far from being so key and not worth that much.
