Apple has updated the HomePod mini, which will now be available in three additional color variants: yellow, blue and orange. Their price is the same 99 dollars, in our case around 2 CZK, and they will be available only next month, i.e. during November. Apple will continue to offer the existing white and space gray color options.

And although it might look that way at first glance, the new colors are actually the only thing that has changed in terms of hardware. Along with the color variant of the seamless mesh that the speaker is wrapped in, the color of the plus and minus buttons on its top has also changed to match the overall concept. The backlit touch surface in the upper part, which provides quick control, then has a new colored LED.

For example. the yellow HomePod mini thus has a gradient shifted to the warmer colors of green and orange, the orange again from orange to blue, while for the others it is more of a transition between blue and pink. These colors are dependent on your interaction with Siri. The original white and space gray colors are still available.

Why Apple went for blue is quite logical, because it is the same color that, for example, is offered by the iPhone 13 and also by the iMac introduced in the spring. In contrast, yellow and orange match only the 24" iMac. It's quite possible that Apple wants to align its all-in-one computers used in homes with speakers. For example, the iPhone XR was also offered in yellow, but with the arrival of the iPhone 13, the company left the offer. It can thus be judged that the new color portfolio will ideally complete the interior of every home.

With multiple HomePod mini speakers around the house, you can ask Siri to play one song everywhere. Then as you walk through the rooms, it plays the same everywhere. The speaker also works with your Apple devices for features like Intercom, allowing you to quickly communicate by voice with the whole family, no matter which rooms are scattered around your home.
