Patrik Pajer Time loops are cool, that's an undeniable fact. Games with time and the repetition of events became famous in the film industry, for example, the legendary comedy Na hromnice o den more or the slightly more contemporary alien carving On the Edge of Tomorrow. In the world of video games, we don't see that many time loops, despite the fact that this concept was used, for example, by everyone's beloved The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask. Fortunately, we can rely on an independent developer who is not so afraid of original ideas. Among them is the studio Happy Brocolli Games and their first Kraken Academy.

The main character of the game is waiting for his first days at a new high school. And to make matters worse, a magical kraken awaits him right after his arrival, in addition to the general nervousness of the new environment. He tells him that the end of the world is coming in three days and it is up to him to prevent it. Accomplishing such a task will require freeing four ghosts and, above all, making friends with an ensemble of local strange characters. Kraken Academy is not quite an ordinary high school.
The magical talking kraken is just the first clue that the main character has found himself in a really strange place. However, you will have plenty of time to explore in detail and meet local students and teachers. To free each of the ghosts, you use one three-day time loop, in which you always get to know one of the student clubs and its members better. At the end of each of the loops, a boss fight awaits you. Kraken Academy is a cocktail of many genres, but it can best be described as an adventure game with RPG elements. In addition to interacting with the characters, you will also fight and play various mini-games from time to time. All this is complemented by a distinctive graphic style together with humorous dialogues that will not let you forget that the local school is really absurd.
