Integration testing is currently underway in Spotify beta SiriKit Audio API. Spotify subscribers will soon get what they've been clamoring for for a long time - the ability to control their favorite streaming service via Siri. Among other things, Tom Warren drew attention to Siri support on his Twitter.

Siri integration has been sought by Spotify for a long time, and the absence of this support was also part of its complaint to the European Commission. Apple enables this integration from the new iOS 13. About that Apple is negotiating Spotify integration, has been speculated for quite some time, and it looks like everything has been resolved to mutual satisfaction.

The first music app to get Siri support was Pandora, which released the corresponding update even before the full version of the iOS 13 operating system was officially released.

The new SiriKit API allows users to interact with third-party audio apps in a similar way to how Apple Music interacts with Siri. In order to activate the correct application, unlike Apple Music, it is necessary to mention its name in all relevant commands. Unlike Siri Shortcuts, where users have to precisely define individual shortcuts in advance, the SiriKit Audio API supports natural language.

Siri integration is currently available to all beta testers of the Spotify app. The date for the official launch of Siri support has not yet been set. HomePod does not currently (yet) support the SiriKit API.
