Many users are wondering when and if Apple will introduce a new HomePod. Bloomberg analyst Mark Gurman commented on this very topic in his recent newsletter, according to which we could expect not only two new HomePods in the future. The second part of our roundup of speculations today will be devoted to the presence of a USB-C port in the charging case of future AirPods.

Is Apple preparing new HomePods?

There is more and more talk about not only what hardware Apple will present at its upcoming Autumn Keynote, but also about what the Cupertino company has in store for us in the coming months and years. Among the products that are talked about quite often in this context is the updated version of the HomePod mini smart speaker. Bloomberg analyst Mark Gurman reported in his regular Power On newsletter last week that Apple plans not only to release a new version of the HomePod mini, but also to resurrect the original "big" HomePod. Gurman stated in his newsletter that we could expect a HomePod in the traditional size during the first half of 2023. Along with it, the mentioned new version of the HomePod mini could also come. In addition to the new HomePods, Apple is also working on several new products for the home - for example, there is talk of a multifunctional device that combines the functions of a smart speaker, Apple TV and FaceTime camera.

The HomePod mini has been around for a while:

USB-C ports on future AirPods

An increasing number of users are calling for the wider introduction of USB-C ports in Apple products. A large number of people would welcome USB-C ports on iPhones, but according to well-known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, wireless headphones from Apple - AirPods could also receive this type of port. In this context, Ming-Chi Kuo states that the first AirPods in a charging box equipped with a USB-C port could see the light of day as early as next year.

Kuo made his assumption public in one of his Twitter posts last week. He also stated that the second generation of AirPods Pro, which is expected to be released later this year, should offer a traditional Lightning port in the charging case. Kuo did not specify whether the USB-C port will be a standard part of the charging case, or whether the improved charging cases for AirPods will be sold separately. From 2024, USB-C ports on both iPhones and AirPods should become standard due to the regulation of the European Commission.
