Apple develops a number of products in secret, many of which are canceled before the public sees them. It appears that Apple was in the final process of testing and certifying the so-called "Apple Magic Charger" before abandoning the project. In this case, however, partial production in the supply chains for the purpose of testing took place, and it is these chains that are responsible for the subsequent leakage of the relevant information.

Photos of the said device recently surfaced on Twitter. Apparently, the product was intended to charge the iPhone in a vertical position, the design of the charger is similar to the discontinued magnetic charging dock for the Apple Watch.

Does Apple want to compete with Metaverse?

In recent weeks, various speculations and more or less verified reports regarding the future Apple device for augmented, virtual or mixed reality have been gaining momentum. According to the latest information, it looks like the Cupertino company could develop its own sophisticated AR/VR system in an effort to compete with the Metaverse platform. On the subject, Bloomberg analyst Mark Gurman pointed out that Apple is looking for a professional content creator for virtual reality, adding that the company is reportedly planning to build its own video service to play 3D content in VR. The upcoming VR headset should then offer automatic cooperation with Siri, Shortcuts and search.

On the one hand, Apple is slowing down its hiring process, but on the other hand, according to Gurman, it seems that the company is not afraid to hire specialists for 3D and VR content. For example, Gurman said in his recent newsletter that one of Apple's job postings includes, among other things, work on creating a 3D virtual world. Although Apple has in the past reserved itself against the idea of creating a platform similar to Metaverse, it is possible that it will try to take the phenomenon of an alternative virtual world in its own way.
